Just a thought for Republicans that dislike Trump.

The only thing making Rubio viable is Trump and Cruz together. Remove either one of them, and Rubio won't even be close, it will be over.

Trump trails Rubio badly if Cruz isn't in the race.

wsj-nbc-poll-png.63848
What is the demographic of that poll? Republicans who vote in the last Presidential primary? All registered voters, who? Got a link?

If it is Trump vs Hillary, he might lose, and I do mean might. A LOT of disappointed democrats will stay home giving him the edge, but a lot of republicans will also stay home. It will come down to how hated Hillary is. The independents might not vote for either.

If it's Trump vs Sanders then Trump wins no problem. Few Americans except the radical left will vote a socialist into office.

Rubio would beat both DNC candidates. Therefor I would have to disagree that Trump is the best bet.

Think about this as part of a dynamic process if you really want to anticipate what will eventually happen.

Right now Trump is going up in polls, and there is no reason to believe he has some fictional cap. People were saying that about Romney in 2012 as well and were proven wrong. Trump isnt polling high as a second choice, but he has been a lot of peoples third or forth choice behind idealistic candidates like Carson and Kasich.

Hillary is dropping in the polls as she shows the world she is a cheating cantankerous old hag, cheating Sanders, lying to authorities about her email and secured document handling and may be indicted just prior to the election. Her poll numbers will continue to drop.

Rubio is a provenliar, and though he has rising numbers, as people become more informed with his track record he will start hemorraging supporters.

Rubio is a loser no matter who yo put up against him. He even makes Hillary look honest.

You are letting your dislike of Rubio cloud your thinking. He isn't my first choice but I can easily see him beating both Democrat candidates handily. It's a fact that lying is almost a positive thing with most democrats and many independants. Obama's reelection proves that. Plus there are a great many voters who vote for stupid reasons like looks, youth, and ethnicity which Rubio has all of. He beats either candidate pretty easily, IMO.

I think you are correct Pred. He would probably win the easiest, which would make the establishment happy as hell since he is absolutely controllable. How much actual change we would get is the big question. If winning the easiest is the number 1 desire of GOP voters, then Rubio is their guy!
If Rubio wins the nomination I'm voting third party. I will not vote for someone who is pro-amnesty. PERIOD!

What if you can't find a 3rd party candidate that isn't pro-amnesty?

Republicans have broken voter turnout records in every state so far. I'm pretty sure that is the result of the Trump phenomenon. I'm also pretty sure a lot of his supporters will disappear with him if he loses the nomination. I know how much a lot of you dislike Trump, but at this point he is probably the best bet for a Republican win.

The Republican party is shattered into pieces. There are millions of Republicans that won't vote for Trump no matter what. Many believe that Hillary Clinton is more conservative than he is. Whether he'll be able to convince them that he's really not a liberal, is the question. He has a real history of supporting liberal democrat policies, like Obama's 878 billion dollar stimulus bill.

That Time Donald Trump Praised The Stimulus Package On Fox News
That Time I Gave A Shit About What Oreo Had To Say...
Never.

THere's gonna be HUUUUGE buyers remorse should Trump be selected. His tyrannical way of doing business is gonna turn folks against him quickly. Because MOST of his support is not looking for "deals".. They are looking to reduce the growth and restrain the power of Fed Govt. He's NOT a political reformer.

All all those "Great People" he owns and controls are not gonna put up his ego and flippant ways of making pronouncements and decisions. It's gonna be a disaster of EPIC proportions should he get elected.

Be damned certain of one thing. He is NOT intending to govern as a Republican or a Conservative or for that matter with ANY POLITICAL consistency. So when your only goal is winning, you are gonna LOSE every shred of party identity you own when he's done destroying your brand.

If this is the best BOTH parties are offering -- God help the United States of America..

Who was the last president to reduce the growth and restrain the power of the Federal Government? Reduce spending. Secure the border?

Clinton actually cooperated in a fairly decent spending reduction. It's about time for one --- dontchathink?

Trump has NEVER uttered a word (that I've heard) about ANY of that. He plans to use all those agencies to strongarm deals. Sic the IRS, OSHA, FDA, EPA, etc on anyone he's "dealing with".. LOVES the idea of wielding all that influence and PLANS on expanding and USING it..

Politicians aren't actually for shrinking the size of government because that would limit their power. It's just something conservative politicians say to rile up their base. To my knowledge the federal government has never shrunk by a meaningful amount, only grown.

The 2 folks who scare the shit out me wielding and USING all that power are Bernie the Red and the Trumpster.

They WILL use it all..

Gridlock lead to deficit reduction, not Clinton, not the Republican Congress.

There is a lot of excitement for Trump. He has charisma, and his common sense message resonates. He is drawing record crowds and I believe he will get the votes of a lot of blue collar Democrats. He is the man to beat.

The people that do not like him are jealous of his massive success and matching ego. They'd rather elect a loser, like themselves!

No I'd rather have someone who has demonstrated and ability to actually understand the Constitution, both in what it says and what it means.

Actually What deficit reduction, a balanced budget is not No deficit. The republican congress wrote, and passed the Balanced budget billy had, There was still quite a deficit, but nothing compared to now. Bush nearly doubled the deficit but he had to build an entirely new department of the government and fund trillions in rebuilding of natural disasters, and a war with a madman. Bho doubled it again to help stop US dominance in the world, and bring us down to everyone else level.

Donald Trump Would Cut Department Of Education, EPA

Trump Says He Will Cut The EPA As Prez: 'We'll Be Fine With The Environment'

We KNOW the establishment Republican candidate will do nothing...because the establishment candidate ALWAYS does nothing. Bush created whole new departments, tried to pass amnesty, spent like crazy, championed and signed "no child left behind", demanded and signed the Patriot Act and created a new entitlement. Way to reduce the size scope and power of government? And I'm pretty sure he had both the House and Senate at one point.

The next establishment candidate will do the same thing...run on one thing, and do something completely different.

The ONLY way to break the cycle is to do something completely different. Break from the establishment and elect a citizen/statesmen. This may be our only opportunity in our lifetime to do it.

Cruz is never going to be the nominee. The establishment stacks the deck against any hard right conservative or social conservative by making many of the primaries in liberal leaning states winner-take-all.

Rubio is the establishments man...business as usual. More outsourcing, more free trade, more government spending, more illegal aliens, more amnesty. The same old same old.

Trump is the only viable candidate with no lobbyists hands shoved up their ass making their mouth move.

If you want less government, Trump is honestly the only option.

I used to care more about conservative credentials, but the death of Scalia has made having a republican make the choice is now the most important factor in this race.
2 more Supremes will more than likely be at stake as well............Scalia just put it front and center instead of a back burner issue...................
That is one of the things that worries me about Trump. What kind of pick will he make?

If he wins the general, he should let Cruz advise him on his picks. Of course the dems will try to block any decent nomination.

Trump got 24% of the Iowa vote 35% of New Hampshire and 32% in South Carolina it's not all about Trump. If his numbers go up as Kasich and Carson join Bush on the sidelines that will be a big deal if the Bush, Kasich, Carson supporters rally around Rubio or Cruz then Trump was never as big a deal as thought.

We will not know that until they retire from the race.............

We will find out pretty quick which way Bush supporters go I'm guessing not to Trump or Cruz.

The total budget of the EPA and the Dept of Education is $110 billion.

The budget deficit is projected to be $438 billion.

Trump said he's not going to cut SS, Medicare or the military.

SS and Medicare will be the biggest contributors to incremental increases in the budget deficit, and Trump says he's going to increase military spending.

So what else is he going to cut?
