Yeah....he was and still is a Ted Cruz guy....and yes he did rail heavily against Trump during the primaries. Levin is a former White house lawyer ( Reagan ) so he naturally gravitated towards another legal eagle. He is bombastic to be sure. I don't agree with him 100% ( Ukraine war for instance ) but he manages to shed light on Topics that tend to hide in the shadows from the standpoint of a lay person standing on the outside trying to look in at DC.
