So, there really is no element of surprise when DeBlasio tapped Brooklyn pastor Reverend Fred Lucas Jr., who serves as the chaplain to the Department of Sanitation, to provide the invocation at the inauguration ceremony.

I doubt liberal NYers are fully responsible for the election results. It is as much people like PC, and the tea party, and the politics of hate, fear and inaction which define the New Right and the GOP, all of which helped put the new mayor in office.

American voters have historically elected an unknown when the known has been incompetent, criminal or too extreme. It is the genius of our system - and worked once again. We saw it in the primary in 2012 where Mitt Romney won because he was the least extreme, not because he had great ideas.

We saw it in NY, where the alternative to the extreme rhetoric of Ted Cruz and others, and the do nothing Congress, were rejected in favor of someone who advocated for active governance. Will his policies proof to be too extreme? Time will tell, it is a much better journal of future events than you PC.

And events have certainly proven that to be the case.

I understand the timing, where he stood to become the First African American President and also won a Nobel Prize for his campaign for change which in itself represented and changed the world perspective for many people who never related to politics before.

But I believe Obama could have done better by running for VP first, using his community organizing and national outreach to set up VOLUNTEER programs nationwide by state,
and then using his success record to run for President after demonstrating his visions for change can work BEFORE and INSTEAD of imposing them without testing out and proving the ideas for reform.

I believe we could have avoided so much opposition, and political problems that came from excluding opposition, instead of solving conflicts INCLUSIVELY and working cooperatively which Obama could have achieved better from a different position first, such as Vice President where he could have focused on developing DOMESTIC programs per state with his support base, instead of jumping into the Presidency which carries more responsibility for foreign policies, military and other issues that he cannot do both without compromising.

At this point, I worry the politics have divided people so religiously, I don't know how or where to begin fixing it. I thought by including people and ideas from all parties in comprehensive solutions and reforms, this would take precedent over political bullying. But the bullying mentality just seems to get more and more resentful and divisive, blocking meaningful interaction.

I thought solutions could still rise from the grassroots up, but the process seems locked and blocked where people expect change to trickle from the top down and no longer take responsibility for creating innovations or change themselves. I feel like giving up also.

So sad. To watch politics kill this country by killing motivation to work together toward change.

Obama and the Democrats needed to invest in building and mobilizing change from the grassroots up, but instead, with the divisive policies passed for political expedience that politically divided the nation as enemies and left out if not demonized half the public, that has taken all Obama's resources and attention, instead of focusing on solutions that could have united reform from left to right.

The divisive media did not help. Can't believe how screwed up everything has become, with everyone waiting on someone else to fix it? what a tragic mess. I really had more hope that Americans could be bigger than this, but apparently playing the victim is so contagious even I am catching it, and I have never felt this hopeless and depressed ever.
