It's part and parcel of the Marxist march to totalitarian government that will never progress on to actual communism.

The Marxist minded left now controls most of the message via infiltration into government, education, entertainment, MSM, social media, scientific institutions, big business, a lot of religious groups etc. They can largely suppress conservative voices and information while emphasizing the indoctrination, especially with the young, that they want people to believe.

They've been steadily tearing down and removing historical statues, markers, symbols to destroy the people's understanding of history even as they rewrite the histories to further their own ambitions. They must destroy religious faith in favor of humanistic religions if there must be religion at all. God is no longer welcome in the public sphere pretty much everywhere. Children are discouraged from and sometimes punished for expressing their religious faith in school etc.

So the bishop is right. The Founders must be turned into clueless, vindictive, terrible people and despised lest anybody actually read what they wrote, believed, argued and start thinking about that. The Founders to a man believe the Constitution was best suited for a people guided by religious (Christian) faith but were determined that no religious group would ever have ability to take over and control the country or require any citizen to be Christian or religious at all.

Those promoting Marxism have no understanding or appreciation for the liberty the Founders wrote into the Constitution. They have no understanding or appreciation for the Constitution at all except in those cases in which they can use it to support their Marxist agenda. But they are aware of it sufficiently to know that the people must be kept from knowing about it or considering the concepts the Founders wrote into it.
