$20 trillion man: National debt nearly doubles during Obama presidency

By Dave Boyer - The Washington Times - Sunday, November 1, 2015

When President Obama signs into law the new two-year budget deal Monday, his action will bring into sharper focus a part of his legacy that he doesn’t like to talk about: He is the $20 trillion man.

Mr. Obama’s spending agreement with Congress will suspend the nation’s debt limit and allow the Treasury to borrow another $1.5 trillion or so by the end of his presidency in 2017. Added to the current total national debt of more than $18.15 trillion, the red ink will likely be crowding the $20 trillion mark right around the time Mr. Obama leaves the White House.

When Mr. Obama took over in January 2009, the total national debt stood at $10.6 trillion. That means the debt will have very nearly doubled during his eight years in office, and there is much more debt ahead with the abandonment of “sequestration” spending caps enacted in 2011.

Obama presidency to end with $20 trillion national debt

Whats sad about this is that the congressional republicans let this new budget bill pass because they are scared shitless of the media accusing them of shutting down the govt during an election year, and the dems passing it in order to buy the votes of the welfare class.

Remaining in office is more important to all of them than doing what is right for the country.

Another lovely story...

Bush drove the bus off the cliff and GOP blames Obama because because he can't fix it fast enough...

Listen Bush policies broke the economy, you did a really good job this time. It is very hard to fix it this time.

It is not like before when Reagan broke it... H W Bush did a bit of fixing before Bill got in and fixed it properly.

But then Bush Jr really broke it... Cut taxes during a war, heated the house building market, spent like a drunk sailor

Monopoly money has more real value than the dollar. Isn't backed by anything of value any more. It's 100% imaginary and its value is only real as long as people believe it is. Enough people stop believing and its value collapses. Whether 1 tril or 20 or 500 doesn't ultimately matter because those numbers are so large they can never be paid off. Only thing waiting for us in the future is defaulting and causing a global depression. Try and prevent it, you cause the crash. Do nothing and at least the crash is postponed.

Welcome to the world.

Republican leadership needs to be challenged to a duel. Most unpatriotic bunch of fucking traitors ever. We know Obama a progressive scumbag, we need a real opposition to him not a bunch of Yes Massas

your revisionist history is amusing-----------and totally false.

Obama continued the Bush tax rates, he could have cancelled them and collected more taxes, but he didn't. So he owns the debt created by those tax rates during his two terms.

when obama took office the debt was around 10T, it will be over 20T when he leaves office. He will have added more to it than all other presidents combined.

Sorry but Bush's debt belongs to Bush, Obama's debt belongs to Obama. Thats the way it works.

So what did he do to add to the debt ? It's not like we had a decade of two unfunded wars as we flew into reccession .

But, but, but, he's half black, he said hope and change. the left must continue to worship him :banghead:

the mid east war expenditures count against Bush's debt accumulation. Obama's overspending belongs to him.

I think we need to double taxes on the wealthy so we don't see a $20 trillion debt

He is collecting more taxes.....as usual though spending grew faster......the only thing done to try to get a handle on things was sequstration

Bush drove the bus off the cliff

blame Bush... blame Bush... blame Bush... blame Bush... don't you fucking libercrats ever take responsibility for any of your leaders fuck-ups? demand they act like adults, not kids in a candy store with hundred dollar bills in each hand.
