Obama bypasses Congress on DREAM Act, stops deporting young illegals

Obama just walked off without answering questions about American workers and the unemployment rate.

Very entertaining.

All politics. Must be an election year.

He DID answer the him before the guy took off running with Secret Service on his heels. He was just a mitt plant.

Speaking of mitt, this will now force him to actually make some sort of statement about illegal immigration. So far, all I've heard him mumble is "blah blah self deport blah blah".

Typical R - won't address the real issue but I'll bet he'll whine about this.

I wish I had the same camera angle you did. He was still asking the prez about the UE rate when Obama pigeon toed back into the WH. And that is what was not answered. What about all the unemployed people in the country and the year long wait to get in the military? This is all politics.

Yep...Thomas (Tip) O'Neill.

I need to bookmark this thread. Rightwingers actually putting some blame on one of their own, the Holy Saint Ronald. If you guys are so worried about illegals, why didn't you build America's version of the great wall of China when you had all three branches of Gov't under Shrub? Why didn't you round them all up and send them to the FEMA death camps? Or real easy solution, why don't you just penalize the sacred "job creators" that hire them in the first place? No jobs, no problem with illegals. Could it be that the sacred "job creators" want the illegals because they like cheap labor? Maybe the big business wing of the repugs should get together with the xenophobic wing and hash this all out.

It was WRONG then as it is NOW. What part of that didn't you get Gracie?

Oh, I get that it was wrong then. The town I live in has a very large migrant Mexican worker population and I'm pretty sure a large percentage of them are here illegally. What I don't get is why employers aren't penalized for hiring these people in the first place. If they couldn't get work here, they wouldn't come here. All these plans for building walls, moats, fences, and minefields aren't going to work. Make it hard on the people that hire illegals and the illegals will go away. Simple as that.

and you gurantee the government nor the aclu will interfere with employers who try to verify the status of "illegal." right?

"An executive order in the United States is a directive issued by the President, the head of the executive branch of the federal government. In other countries, similar edicts may be known as decrees, or orders-in-council. Executive orders may also be issued at the state level by a state's Governor. U.S. Presidents have issued executive orders since 1789, usually to help direct the operation of executive officers. Some orders do have the force of law when made in pursuance of certain Acts of Congress, when those acts give the President discretionary powers."

From wiki. He can do it. But is taking a chance. So far all amnesty has hurt any President who gives into it. And people are sick of being promised tighter borders if we just give amnesty one more time.

Did he actually issue an Executive Order?

This will take a act of congress to overturn.........When the senate gets taken from Reid this should be a priority.

Anything that comes from the House on this Dingy Harry Reid will sit on like normal and the blame will be placed on Republican Obstructionism...

You're right. Reid needs to GO.

But in his speech today in the rose garden stated that he's just announcing 'what Janet Napolitano intends to do' as if HE has nothing to do with it.

What a LIAR.

Obama is a disgusting liar. Then again, everyone knows that:

Flashback: Obama said he wouldn’t do executive order on deportations; ‘we’ve got three branches of government’

His views on the matter have "evolved..."
Or he found out his knowledge of the matter was wrong.

that happens to him a lot.

No.

2.34pm: CORRECTION: Throughout the day we have mistakenly referred to the new White House policy as an "executive order." That is wrong; the president has not and will not issue an executive order, a signed piece of paper with potential sway as precedent.

The White House describes the change as a new policy within the Department of Homeland security.

may be distinction w/o difference, but GOPers keeps referencing "executive" order on immigration. None will be issued, per the WH.

Obama to end deportation for young undocumented migrants

I hope this is another nail in this administration's coffin..

Unemployment still over 8% and he thinks of adding 800,000 illegal immigrant law breakers to it..

“With respect to the notion that I can just suspend deportations through executive order, that’s just not the case, because there are laws on the books that Congress has passed — and I know that everybody here at Bell is studying hard so you know that we’ve got three branches of government. Congress passes the law. The executive branch’s job is to enforce and implement those laws. And then the judiciary has to interpret the laws.

There are enough laws on the books by Congress that are very clear in terms of how we have to enforce our immigration system that for me to simply through executive order ignore those congressional mandates would not conform with my appropriate role as President

So what has changed Mr. President? Except that you are now pulling out all the stops to buy votes from every section of the population? I believe you call that a corruption vote whore.

Legal? Not according to what you said in that quote!

Yes.

Thank you. Is there anything illegal about him issuing such an executive order? Is issuing an Executive Order "unConstitutional"?
