Officials announce proposal that would establish California as separate nation

The Constitution has no exit clause. No state has the right to secede.

Of course, of all the pro-secession idiots that have existed in this country, not one has figured out that if a secession amendment were added to the Constitution, then any state that met the requirements of that amendment could secede without question.

So much for "consent of the governed"

A proposal in California has been submitted to the Secretary of State’s Office on Thursday campaigning for the state to secede from the United States.

The proposed “Calexit” initiative would ask voters to repeal part of the state constitution that declares California an inseparable part of the U.S.

A recent poll suggested that one in three California residents would support a possible secession from the U.S. due to their opposition to President Donald Trump. No mention has been made of the president in the proposal.

If the proposal qualifies for the ballot and is approved by voters, it could be a step to a future vote on whether the state would break away from the rest of the nation.

Secretary of State Alex Padilla said the group behind the proposal, Yes California Independence Campaign, was cleared to begin attempting to collect nearly 600,000 voter signatures needed to place the plan on the ballot.

The Los Angeles Times reported that the supporters of the proposal have said California does not share the same cultural ideas as the rest of America.

So is this what those actors meant when they said they would the country if Trump was elected?
this has been going on in one form or another since at least the 60's....you notice they are still part of the country.....and im sure 5 years from now they will still be here.....
Literally every state has a secession movement in one form or the other, its just nice to see how many trump nazis are just angry hillbillies in flyover country
Nazis, huh? Your vocabulary is very limited, isn't it? Maybe you should start reading instead of sticking with your coloring books.
do you prefer klansmen? fascists? swamp people?

You're a ridiculous person. Obviously you're not going to read a book to learn what an idiot you are to compare Trump to Nazis, but there are a variety of movies on the subject

Only 1/3rd of Californians support this, it will get on the ballot then be crushed and that will be the end of their temper tantrum.

No way we will allow eastern California to leave, its mostly Republican and that's where all the food is grown and will remain in the union. When the rest of these idiots understand they will be cut off from their food and water they will cave.

Yeah, let's get rid of the sixth largest economy on the entire planet, and a major producer of our food.

California produces a sizable majority of many American fruits, vegetables, and nuts: 99 percent of artichokes, 99 percent of walnuts, 97 percent of kiwis, 97 percent of plums, 95 percent of celery, 95 percent of garlic, 89 percent of cauliflower, 71 percent of spinach, and 69 percent of carrots (and the list goes on and on). Some of this is due to climate and soil. No other state, or even a combination of states, can match California’s output per acre. Lemon yields in California, for example, are more than 50 percent higher than in Arizona. California spinach yield per acre is 60 percent higher than the national average. Without California, supply of all these products in the United States and abroad would dip, and in the first few years, a few might be nearly impossible to find. Orchard-based products in particular, such as nuts and some fruits, would take many years to spring back.

What Would We Eat if It Weren’t for California?

Don't worry we still get lot's of produce from Mexico......:bang3:

Omg if they left, we could hammer them on trade, wow.
Hammer on trade... for what? You do realize California is one of if not the largest producers of agriculture, goods, and oil in the nation right?

Yes I do, but they would sell in CA and it's a l I mixed market, plus with those regulations imposed by the commies there, they couldn't export dick. Noone could afford their products and the US would crush them into submission.

They would find out how much flyover America buys from them and the movie business would tank, hell they shoot movies all over the country because it's cheaper than in CA.

If you don't believe me, read variety, not a right wing mag.

That was terrible irony. You switched illegal immigration for trade which is a false equivalency and then made Mexico the only reason California is leaving which is way weak. You suck at irony.

Here's a tip, when you try to convey partisan talking points into irony, it's probably not going to come off

Not questioning your post, just wondering, who is alarmed by any of this? I am in fact wondering, what took so long, and why are we allowing them on our soil?

To liberals and Hollywood people, it's alarming.

It's showing just how repressive and regressive the taxes and regulation in CA are.
Hollywood votes.for.those things, but then try to avoid paying the price. I guess they thought it wouldn't apply to them and now they know it does, they leave.

No. Your just feeble-minded. There was nothing wrong with my statement. Intelligent people would have seen it as a joke. Especially with the emoticon banging his head against a wall...perhaps you should try that. It would probably improve your cognitive abilities.

This is no surprise, the left has been trying to break America apart since the 60's, now they have resorted to their favorite tactic, playing the victim and all that entails [actually staying in America, demanding money for all the self inflicted damage, separation pay] when they could just leave and find a better life somewhere else [the pretend thing again]...Next they will target Hawaii.
Uhh, hasn't Texas, the lone star state, been the leader in the sussession talks? Are you saying that was led by the left?

Actually, the whole seccession thing was tried by a bunch of states about 150 years ago. Long before Texas and California became states in the Union.

It did not work out well for them.

So, by the time Texas and California did join the Union it was pretty clear that once in there was no way out.

Thanks for the info... but I was speaking to Frankensuckers claim that this is a Left driven effort to tear apart America. What say he about Texas' part in the same kind of effort?
