Officials announce proposal that would establish California as separate nation

Not Rocket science?...LOL, It isn't even your abc's...California is behaving the way it has been since at least the sixities, like a spoiled entitled child, daddy said stop that and now they are crying and threatening to run away from home...you want to pretend Texas is leading the way and is as bad as California go ahead, you got it, make the argument against them all you want...but if you are really a liberal you don't care if they are leaving, it would just be another feather in the liberal hat, wouldn't it?
I wouldn't say I'm a liberal or a conservative as I support both sides depending on the situation. You seem to have blinders on, and are fixated in the "leading" word which I already dismissed. Fact is, if California Liberals are "spoiled entitled children" as you say, then the same can be said about Texas conservatives who have been doing the exact same thing. At least try to be a little objective.

one big difference, Texas is not broke, California is.
That has nothing to do with the conversation

tell that to the fool who tried to create an analogy between Tx and Ca.
I made a simple point, prove that Texas didn't petition to do the same thing and you can prove me wrong, but changing the subject to bank accounts is irrelevant to my point and a different debate

Yes, if the hildebeast had won we might be seeing a similar action in Texas and possibly a long list of red states.

The discussion was regarding whether Cal or Tx could actually pull it off from a financial standpoint. Tx probably could, Ca could not because of their massive state debt.

But I understand that you like to argue for the sake of argument, and that fine.

MORE VOTES FOR THE GOP IN 2018!!!!!

With the lack of natural resources, food and water, they'd be beggers within 3 months.

Mmmm, it means that Texas could be a viable State by itself, while California could not.

That is relevant to judging the people behind both movements.
That's a completely separate debate. My point was very simple. If the OP was calling California liberals "spoiled entitled children" because a group petitioned for succession after Trumps win... the. It is only far to say the same thing about Texans when they did the exact same thing in past years.

Not really.

Republicans don't have a plan in place to permanently marginalize the largest single ethnic group in America, and the dems do.

It's not rocket science... Texas wanted to leave under Clinton and Obama... California wants to leave after Trumps election... see what's happening here??

Viability has nothing to do with "Spoiled entitled children" which is what I was speaking to. Why is this taking so long for you all to understand. I'm not using big words

That was never even brought up... since you are bringing it up now, you would have to factor what California residents and businesses pay in Federal taxes. That amount would now be income to the state and would dramatically effect the economy. Way to many hypotheticals to play through.

I own houses in California and In Texas and split my time in both states. I very much prefer the way Texas runs their economy over California... but there is also no other place like Cali... I'm always gonna have a soft spot for her

See, there is either your problem or an intentional lie, you are intentionally making this just about the secession. I have said that about Californians long long before trump won, and now claim this is just further evidence of that, [go back and read my post] it just one of many reasons and further proof about California liberals that make them spoiled and entitled

the. It is only far to say the same thing about Texans when they did the exact same thing in past years.

no it is not, they did not do the same exact things.

Sure, take away what Cal pays in federal taxes, but you also have to take away what cal receives in federal funding. I suspect it would be a net negative for Ca. And remember, if Ca were to secede all US military bases would be closed and their assets and personnel moved out of Ca. What would that do for their economy and how would they protect themselves from China, Mexico, and Russia?

But as I said, I am all for it. Let the far left take the state and turn it into the socialist republic of California with moonbeam Brown as its president. It would be a massive comedy.

Same arguement can be made for Texas, right? I haven't looked at the numbers but I'd be willing to bet that Californias fed biz and personal tax payments far exceed its federal funding

It is an interesting conversation to analyze the economies of both California and Texas and what each would need to do to successfully succeed from the USA. Many many moving parts, and Cali would need massive budget reforms, that is for sure. They currently need massive reforms with how they spend. This is a much better conversation then discussing which state is acting like a spoiled entitled child or not.

California is a separate nation on Monday. On Tuesday China invades. Without an army or navy. California is screwed.

A proposal in California has been submitted to the Secretary of State’s Office on Thursday campaigning for the state to secede from the United States.

The proposed “Calexit” initiative would ask voters to repeal part of the state constitution that declares California an inseparable part of the U.S.

If the proposal qualifies for the ballot and is approved by voters, it could be a step to a future vote on whether the state would break away from the rest of the nation.

Secretary of State Alex Padilla said the group behind the proposal, Yes California Independence Campaign, was cleared to begin attempting to collect nearly 600,000 voter signatures needed to place the plan on the ballot.

The Los Angeles Times reported that the supporters of the proposal have said California does not share the same cultural ideas as the rest of America.

so Trump is like Lincoln.

Good luck with that, Jerry Browntrout.

Poll: 68 percent of Californians oppose Calexit

LOS ANGELES (KABC) --
The majority of Californians oppose California seceding from the U.S., otherwise known as the Calexit, according to the latest exclusive Eyewitness News/Southern California News Group poll conducted by SurveyUSA.

Most Californians said they didn't know much about "Yes California," which is a grassroots movement that aims to have California withdraw from the U.S. and form its own country.

In the survey, 68 percent opposed the idea and 18 percent were in favor.

Like everything with Democrats today, it's just faux tears and stomping feet. They lack all power and authority now.
