If you don't understand why the guard was willing to do what they did, how will you be able to judge how the Nazi's came to power, used their power, etc, as to learn how to be weary of it in the future? Isn't there a parallel between the Death of Democracy and the Rise of MAGA that still needs to be sorted out?

Anyway, I still think the problem with holocaust education is still that it is too Jew-centric. It is almost to the point that people barely remember the 45 or so percent who weren't jewish who died as well.

Nope, that isnt convincing. Why not get the plantation owners to explain the benefits of slavery?
Or an isis type to make a case for the twin towers ? .

I have a better idea. How about focus on teaching kids how to read well, write well, solve math problems and perform science experiments.

What's the point of learning History?

Is it to learn "what happened"? Or is it to learn skills to be used later on in life, like the ability to make an argument?

One look around this message board and you'll see that most people can't make an argument for shit. They can't deal with sources, they can't look objectively at things.

That's where learning History comes in. If done properly.
