I was in Corpus Christi, Texas recently, and I couldn’t help notice how many women there were who fit that description exactly. If you are nearby, or have the means, you may want to shop there. I’m talking women of all races and professions, but much slimmer than than the average woman of today. Much more like the women I first started dating in the ‘80’s.

The average weight seems to have gone up in the last thirty years. It seems that post-pandemic women almost take pride in their excess pounds. I’m not saying that men are any better, I just care less what men look like.

That’s the Catch-22 these days. I always admired women who were very athletic and fit, but any woman not specifically over-weight was fine. These days, it seems that most non-overweight women are heavily into exercise and health, and often uninterested in men who are not.

I hate to be Mr. “back in my day . . . “ but I just turned sixty, so I suppose it is inevitable. Back in my day, a reasonably fit young man could find a reasonably fit young woman, without hanging out in the gym all day.

I think we may be moving toward that ship in “Wall-E,” except for a small percent of people who dedicate lots of time and effort to staying fit. My wife and I have recently started taking cruises and they seem exactly like that.

Let’s face it. People are not fat because they don’t spend hours in the gym. People are fat because they eat too much, and don’t exercise at all.
