To start with, women don't vote Republican because they are married. The same women who voted Democrat before marriage, will vote Democrat after they are married.

Given that more college grads vote Democrat than Republican, this could be why Republicans now talk about the education as "elitist". According to the logic used in your marriage quote, since those with some college, voted Republican, so if no one graduated from college, Democrats would never win.
