Senior US officials: Trump is ready to shut down his own government if he doesn’t get border wall fu

Secretary of Homeland Security John Kelly suggested on Sunday that President Donald Trump would force his own government to shut down if Congress refuses to give him the funds needed to build a wall on the U.S.-Mexico border.

During an interview on CNN, host Dana Bash noted that the government would begin shutting down on Friday if a stop-gap spending measure was not passed by Congress and signed into law by the president.
Of course it is the Democrats who are threatening to shut down the government over the border wall and not one of them knows why.
The Republicans own the House, the Senate, and the WH.....so gosh darn powerless they are.

Do you want Mexico to pay for the Wall?

Better Mexico than the American taxpayer, but that's not gonna happen.
You don't know that!

Is Trump going to start a war to make Mexico pay for it? Last I heard that's the only way one country can force another country to pay for something, they don't want to pay for.

No...you just increase the tax on the money Mexicans living here send back to Mexico....and you can also cut any foriegn aid we send them...
So...when that money starts rolling in, then they can start using it to fund construction.

Awesome. We want a wall we voted for the wall so we get it or shit gets shut down. Works for me!
Just who is "we"? For sure not the majority of Americans or even a congressional majority. Tough luck. Now get Mexico to pay for it
Easily done. Just tax all money sent back to Mexico.

Are you going to tax Mexican vacations? Because that would also be a transfer to money into Mexico?

Would you tax all money leaving the USA? Because funds can always be transshiped through dozens of countries.

You tax all funds being wire transferred BACK to Mexico. Trump already explained this last year. Many articles on it as well.

So funds sent to El Salvador aren't taxed. And El Salvador is free to ship money to Guatamala, and Guatamala is free to ship money to Columbia, and Columbia is free to ship money to Mexico,

All I see is having to add a middle man to the equation, and Trumps plan is worthless.

Sure lol....Round and Round we go....weeeeee

How do you differentiate the payments Walmart pays to a mexican farmer for avacados, from money an illegal alien is shipping back to his grandmother?

It's not like you can just intercept and tax all wire transfers from american banks to mexican banks. Since a large amount of world commerce goes through american banks. All you would be doing is shifting that business from american banks to swiss banks. Talk about keeping american jobs, NOT !!!

Has this president passed a single piece of legislation in his first 100 days? FAIL

Only if, as promised, Mexico pays for it. No funding here for any wall.
We all know that Mexico will never pay for the wall- thats a given

A company can buy property in Guatamala, which would be perfectly legal, then sell or trade that property for property in Mexico. There are a million loopholes, including leasing the property in Mexico, where the lease is for 1,000,000 years.

There is no way to tax money leaving the USA on an unequitable basis. There are too many middle men to broker the deals. And unlike export resstrictions, such as selling weapons, the companies need a license to export, and that license has requirements to keep certain technologies from falling into unfriendly hands.

There are no such export requirements for money,.

If trump can find someone to blame, he will take health care away and/ shut down the govt. He won't hesitate.

The way he "thinks", he will figure that the Repubs, Newt Gingrich and slimy Ted Cruz weren't hurt when they did it and there's no such thing as a Repub who cares about Americans so sure. why not?

Here in the US, it's Congress that passes legislation, not the President. Where are you from?

How do you differentiate the payments Walmart pays to a mexican farmer for avacados, from money an illegal alien is shipping back to his grandmother?
By requiring proof of US citizenship from individuals looking to wire funds, by tracking such wire-transactions, and by limiting the amounts allowed per month, year, whatever?

We can't even require a picture ID to vote.

True...

Irrespective of this particular usage for such an ID...

Perhaps it's time that we DO require a picture ID...
