Sequestration: Blame goes to GOP

Blown 6 trillion, eh?

What should he have done..cancelled Bush's debts?

You folks would have had a field day with that one.

:eusa_drool:

4 years in, and your Messiah® is STILL hiding in BOOOOSHHH's skirts.

Obama added $6 trillion to the debt. If he can't put on Big Boy Pampers and take responsibility for his acts, then the fucker needs to resign.

This whole thing is about 2.5% or so of the budget. There is no crisis there is only the political football created by Obama trying to gain a political coup. Any business or family can deal with a 2.5% change in their budget, Obama is trying to sell a phoney governmental disaster of epic proportions. As usual Obama is full of shit. It has gotten to the point that if the fucking guy is breathing he is lying.

If it's no big deal why assign blame? :eusa_whistle: If nothing bad will happen why blame?

Cognitive dissonance runs rampant through the conservative noise machine

You just can't make this stuff up.

It's comedy gold.

He didn't "add" 6 trillion..he PAID down what was added by Bush.

And if you think that's an easy thing to do..try counting to a trillion.

We'll wait.

It?s as if the election never happened
House Republicans held a quick session with the press this afternoon to mainly make one point: They have no responsibility for sequestration. Speaker Boehner:

“Republicans have acted twice…to replace with the sequester with what we would argue are smarter cuts. Listen, the president says we have to have another tax increase in order to avoid the sequester. Well, Mr. President, you got your tax increase.

“The House has acted twice. We shouldn’t have to act a third time before the Senate begins to do their work.”

This standoff isn’t going to be resolved by rhetoric. But it’s worth noting the extent to which Republican spin simply ignores that there was an election in November.

First of all, whether Boehner and the Republicans like it or not, Barack Obama was in fact re-elected on a platform of “balanced” deficit reduction — that is, new revenue and new spending cuts. Republicans have of course every right to oppose that, but it’s a little strange hearing them talk as if that campaign and election never happened.

But more to the point: claiming to have “acted twice” is nonsense. The expired 112th House may have passed things, but that’s entirely irrelevant now. The current 113th House, with a smaller Republican majority, has passed absolutely nothing to replace sequestration. And as Roll Call points out, the two measures Boehner refers to won by narrow margins last year; it’s quite likely that Republicans don’t have the votes to pass them now.

I just watched that press appearance. Some of those Republicans looked like someone just shot their dog. Eric Cantor looked incredible uncomfortable waiting to speak. Sucks to be bought and paid for and unable to return the check.

Did they have the "#obamaquester" sign in front of them?

Does this look like the winning team? When Republican in doubt, "Wrap self in flag." They got a flag for each back there. (Love that necklace.)

Responsibility. Just another character trait lacking in Republicans.

Look, say we kept America safe or we had to do something. Don't just say, "Wasn't me."

Since your Messiah® can't take responsibility for his time in office, why doesn't the fucker resign and we'll get Bush to fill in, you know, since he's the only one who can manage to sack up....

Exactly!!!

And ONE more thing. You can damn well bet that if they anticipated that the sequester would be immensely popular with the public, the GOP would be absolutely CROWING that they made it a reality.

The roughly 85 billion to be sequestered (eventually) come to like 1/2 of 1% of the year's deficit.

The law which created the fucking "sequester" would spread the "savings" around. But President Obama is trying to focus it like a laser beam on the things that will CAUSE as much discomfort as he can generate in that manner. All the better to make the sequester a "heartless Republican created problem."

Nobody can ever honestly accuse Obama of being honest of reasonable.

its called the Washington monument syndrome.

see, they want the public to think that they have to cut the most vital services first- kill tourism and piss people off by shutting down the wash. memorial, cut police, cut tsa, cut border control, like the first tax $$$ we pay is directly tied to those venues and events and jobs...its dishonest, totally dishonest.

when it comes to spending cuts this is what you're dealing with, everything is sacrosanct, heres an oldie but a goodie- harry reid can get up their and whine about a $56,000 federal subsidy yes 56k cut to a Cowboy Poetry festival....but hey we have cut fireman:rolleyes:...unreal.

If the sequester makes huge government cuts....and, brings in more revenue, then wouldnt spending less and bringing in more be GOOD BUSINESS???

I thought you guys wanted govt to "run like a business". Well, thats what it'll be hahahaha!!! Spend less, plus bring in more, equals profit, right?

We are already bringing in more the Bush tax cuts for the rich are gone and the Social Security tax went up on all of us the bringing in more part has been accomplished it's now time for the spending less part. This really should not even be a issue unless Obama was not being honest about wanting a balanced approach of tax increases and spending cuts.

Are you speaking of the Obama Sequestration? The one he suggested and signed into law? That one?

Are you talking about the same one that even Obama's own people said he wanted and that Obama said that he would veto any bill that didn't contain it?

Blaming the Tea Party-Controlled GOP for Sequestration Isn't Partisan, It's Factual

The Republican policy position on sequestration is, on the surface, seemingly irrational. There is near universal agreement that the deep cuts from the sequester that are due to take place in a few days will be damaging to the economy, costing in the neighborhood of a million jobs (based on a nonpartisan estimate) and threatening our economic recovery (the Congressional Budget Office estimates growth to be reduced by 0.6 percent). But the Republicans in Congress are nevertheless willing to take the pocketbooks of the American people hostage, all to try and ransom spending and entitlement cuts that would, in the opinion of many economists, cause further economic damage to all but the wealthiest Americans (Paul Krugman does a good job explaining this point).

Your post and source are pure bullshit. Sequestration was introduced by a dimwit and signed by obamaturd. Now since it is a political hot potato issue all of a sudden obamaturd and the idiot left are blaming the republicans. The republican house has passed two bills and sent them to the senate where the screwball reid has failed to do his job. Blame goes to obamaturd and the senate.

Plus his own wimpy press sec said that obamaturd made a mistake suggesting sequestration.

Please ask the public who the sequester belong to. The overwhelming majority will tell you the GOP. Yup, they are the ones screaming austerity. They own it and they will pay for it.

Obamaturd has got the sheeple fooled. Your argument stinks as usual. Obamaturd and the LEFT OWN sequestration, period!

Do you want to know why the T.E.A. party cannot be blamed for sequestration?

Because we advocate for real spending cuts. Sequestration has none. I guess that just shoots your whole point all to hell.
