Off topic, personal attack + ignorance (the spelling of defense in the 18th Century was defence).

Maybe you didn't vote for trump, maybe you didn't vote at all. I don't care, your post make it easy to infer that you support trump and his policies.

I support free markets. I am actually disappointed in how DJT has handled the budget and healthcare. Why are you using old English? Weird. I do despise progressive Leftists and their virtue signaling.

I too support free trade. I'm not using old English, I quoted the Preamble as it was written. I don't edit quotes.
Not just trade. Free markets. If I need an X-ray I should be able to go to where I want to and pay what the market decides not what my insurance says it is.

No one prevents you from doing so. If you want, pay for health insurance, or don't. You can get some real cheap stuff and then pay out of pocket when you discover that the cost for an X-ray isn't controlled by a free market, and not even by competition.

But it should be. My insurance is very good but doesn’t cove LASIK. So lasik is free markets driven and prices have declined substantially as more doctors offer the service and market forces naturally lowered prices. Need to get administrative agents out of there and just let doctors and patients determine costs.

I agree, but we both know that insurance companies are not in the business of paying claims.

  • Raise the retirement age for those under 40 to 70 and those under 30 to 72.
  • Do a deep dive into Medicaid and cut all the fraud.
  • Lower Federal jobs/comp. - Federal employees receive significantly higher total compensation than similar private-sector employees. I know many people who work at the EPA and other such locales and make well into six figures while sitting at home in their pajamas. Would never happen in a private company. Accountability matters.
  • Federal Sales tax of 2% on all new goods until debt is paid down to $10Trn. Even income tax evaders such as drug dealers and welfare recipients would now pay taxes when they buy goods like sneakers, etc.
  • ^^ Would lower interest expense significantly ^^

  • On October 10, 2019, the Social Security Administration (SSA) announced that the 2020 Social Security wage base will be $137,700, which is an increase of $4,800 from $132,900 in 2019. There should be no wage base, high earners (professional athletes, movie stars, CEO's, Doctors, Lawyers, etc.) can well afford the hit.
  • Agreed. Fraud is still a crime, and it is time to enforce the crime which is part of the PPACA, if a recall correctly
  • Evidence. Speaking only for local government not all employees earn more than the private sector. And the vast majority are not managers or chiefs, they are clerks and secretaries, custodians/janitors and line staff
  • A federal sales tax will impact the vast majority of workers, it is thus a regressive form of taxation. The more taken from The People, the less currency will circulate through the communities in which they reside. And, The Congress will have more money which will likely increase the logrolling among its members.
  • Fiscal responsibility is not taking from Paul to Pay Peter.
No cap? Why? “They can afford to pay more” doesn’t mean they should.

"noblesse oblige" referred to the unwritten obligation of people from a noble ancestry to act honorably and generously to others.

Your argument maybe valid, but it is not pragmatic. The Plutocrats are not nobility, but they sure as hell act like they are.
I make significantly more than $137k. I do Not see myself as nobility. I would rather keep the $$ and give to charities of my choice like the ASPCA. Instead of those gaming the system.

I too have an annual income over the $137k mark, of course mine is in my retirement check. However, I do receive a SS Check too.
And you should as you paid into it

Hence I prefer free markets. And my insurance is good but I see all the inefficiency and it makes my head spin

Last I checked they are planning to pay for their plans. Wealth taxes and all that.
Yeah, like AOC's 'Green New Apocalypse'?! She finally admitted that the US would financially collapse before it ever got close to completing even half of the plan if they tried to do so.
Didn’t vote for her.

That wing of your party seems to be in control. What are you going to do? Even if you believe your side can squeeze enough revenue out of people to pay for the super programs, those lunies would tear the country apart.
I’m independent....

I’ve seen that claim before and every time I check on it lasik is actually going up.

Should we be responsible? I suggest otherwise. This beast cannot be reformed. The only option is to pour on the coal until the boilers explode.
Bring it.
I can't bring myself to give you a 'thumbs up' / 'winner' for that one...but it IS funny as hell! :p
Thanks,! I was wondering if I was going to have to explain the analogy to the kiddies that now populate this place

Not near me. Used to be $5k per now I can get it for $1200 per. Not that I would.

Unlike Obama, what President Trump is doing for this country is damned well worth it. So damned the expense.
Bwahahahahahahahaha!!!!!

Funny shit dude, fuuuuny shit.

Well I can relate to your disappointment, man. You lost the most important election of your lifetime.

But as for me, I"m getting more than my money's worth out of this President. And he's working for free!

Ok then. Let's see where we can cut spending, without pissing off any of the electorate...

I’m glad the vote is going on the way of responsibility.
You think reducing spending is funny.

Typical unserious Leftard who doesn’t give a damn about the deficit.
Its funny how you say let’s cut all their stuff and show no responsibility for your stuff.
Like what? I’m totally for cutting spending. Name 5 things that should be cut.
I have a good idea what you’ll list.
And it’s Trump 2020 Gold.
But go for it, give us a list of where to cut.

  • Raise the retirement age for those under 40 to 70 and those under 30 to 72.
  • Do a deep dive into Medicaid and cut all the fraud.
  • Lower Federal jobs/comp. - Federal employees receive significantly higher total compensation than similar private-sector employees. I could discuss all but your 2% tax on goods. Americans don’t need more burdens. I’d rather see a 10% across the board spending cut for all Fed spending and 50% on specific non beneficial agencies.

I am good with that

How is slashing taxes on billionaires not fiscally responsible?

Many of the D potus candidates are worried about the growing student debt. Why should federal debt not be important as well? We are rapidly approaching, if not already surpassed, $70k in federal debt per citizen. A child born today is born with that burden. What a crummy legacy we're leaving our children.

So yeah, I think it's still important.

Deficits don’t matter
Republicans tell us so

Well I'm glad the voting went strongly to be responsible. Maybe someday we will still demand better of our politicians....

Since republicans have thrown out fiscal responsibility I'm really curious what people say now. I think everyone should be for balanced budgets and decreasing debt. If you are for small government the reason is obvious. If you are a liberal you should hate all the tax dollars that are going for interest rather than your programs.

You take the lead.

Step one, be honest in your support of high taxes for everyone.

I haven't said what I would do to balance the budget. One would think freezing increases alone would be very helpful.

Helpful? Yes. Solve the problem? No.

I looked at the numbers a few years ago. Before the latest tax cut and spending increases. Here's what I found.

Some people believe that reducing the military expenditures will balance the budget and they are correct. But we're not talking about eliminating a carrier group or two. To balance the budget on the backs of the military, one would virtually have to zero out the military budget. When I looked at the numbers, we would have a little left over if we zeroed it out. Perhaps enough to fund the Marines but that's about it.

Other folks think that we simply need to reduce domestic spending. I zeroed out everything but Soc Sec, Medicare, and the military and it still did not balance our budget. Since then, the deficit has gotten even worse.

We have dug ourselves a very deep hole to get out of when it comes to the Federal deficit. The only way I can see to realistically balance our budget is to put everything on the table. Military, entitlements, tax increases--everything.

But not one POTUS candidate is seriously addressing this issue--from either party.

:smh

So, i ask you to take the first step, ie being honest about being for higher taxes for everyone,

and you change the subject.

Boo-yah.

And that is a wrap.

That is all the needs to be said about this issue.

The hole was much less deep just 3 years ago. If we freeze spending economic growth alone would slowly get us out of the mess. It's slow, but better than making the mess worse....
