Should we be force feeding gitmo prisoners?

shaivo requested no treatment Beforfe she was injured.

the husband was doing HER bidding medically.

these people are NOT in a vegitave state

So HE said. I don't believe a word of that.

But I expect he's the one who sent her into the so-called "vegetative state," though of course she had a lot of consciousness and moaned about being starved. Of course he wanted her dead: no chance of recovering and telling how he tried to murder her.

If you look up the case you'll see that is very likely what happened.

There is zero reason we can't try those prisoners in our justice system and lock them up in our regular prisons. We've done it before and it works just fine.

There is the reason that it's against the rules of war!!

No nation is supposed to TRY soldiers fighting for the other side as criminals: that's basic.

When the war is over, you let them go, that's all.

So is the war over, or not?

Shouldn't we be treating these worthless nothings as prisoners of war and just let them go home ? (I'm okay with a delay of a few months while not force-feeding, of course --- get the numbers down, if they are so foolish as to do that. Whenever. They've probably mostly aged out of violent terrorism, anyway, by now.)

Close the prison...it's unbelieveable that Obama has let this go on.

the republicans wont let him close it

He had both houses and the Presidency when he first got into office. The Republicans couldn't stop Obamacare and they wouldn't have been able to stop him from closing Gitmo.

Administration officials lay blame for the failed initiative on Congress, including Democrats who deserted the president, sometimes in droves. The debate, they said, became suffused with fear — fear that transferring detainees to American soil would create a genuine security threat, fear that closing Guantanamo would be electoral suicide. Some Democratic lawmakers pleaded with the White House not to press too hard, according to administration officials.

They are not POW's, and calling them that only validates their cause. They don't deserve to be treated like POW's.

So what would the U.N. do if we let them starve to death?
They would turn around and accuse us of prisoner abuse.
Starving to death is much more painful than force feeding them.

EXCLUSIVE: Guantánamo Scandal: The 40 Prisoners Still Held But Cleared for Release At Least Five Years Ago - Articles - Welcome to "Close Guantánamo"

One of the greatest injustices at Guantánamo is that, of the 169 prisoners still held, over half -- 87 in total -- were cleared for release by President Obama's interagency Guantánamo Review Task Force. The Task Force involved around 60 career officials from various government departments and the intelligence agencies, who spent the first year of the Obama Presidency reviewing the cases of all the remaining prisoners in Guantánamo, to decide whether they should be tried, released, or, in some cases, held indefinitely without charge or trial. The Task Force's final report is here (PDF).

These people took up arms against us. What would you prefer us to call them?

Oh and if given the chance they would take up arms against us again.

You think we haven't let any of them go?

We have let hundreds of them go and the recidivism rate is an estimated 27.9 percent.

In a summary report, the office of the Director of National Intelligence said that 27.9 percent of the 599 former detainees released from Guantanamo were either confirmed or suspected of later engaging in militant activity.

So lets just turn these clowns loose so we can fight them again. :cuckoo:

Not to mention the money that he got after her death. He would have gotten more, if he had killed her earlier.

The only person saying that she would have chosen being killed was the husband! It's not like he would say something else.

The problem is that they are not soldiers.
They wear no uniform and are not fighting for their country.
They are fighting a religious war and it's global.
The country they are from will not allow them to go back to their homes.
Aged out?
They can still lead the jihadists no matter how old they are.

its called allowed to pass away.

Its the laws of this country.

That only applies to uniformed military. These guys broke the rules of war and the Geneva convention doesnt apply.
We would be well within our rights to put em against the wall and shoot em.

why are you poretending that the 60 peopel from all the agencies did not determine that half of these people DID NOTHING to be held for?
