Prior to WW II Korea was a poor 3rd world country. During WWII Korea was occupied and devastated by Japan. After WW II the Soviets took the north and established a communist/socialist society and the US took the south and established a capitalist society. The Korean War strengthen the total separation of these two new societies.

Both countries have all similar traits: same people (Koreans), similar coastal land, similar natural resources, similar land mass etc. Yet the only difference is the north adopted communism/socialism and the south adopted capitalism.

The results are undeniable and telling. South Korea became a rich, 1st world, industrialized nation and a country to envy. North Korea is a 3rd world shit hole, that has a horrible economy, no exports, produces nothing and there are annual food storage in which a good percentage of the population starve.

But let socialist like Bernie and his lazy followers tell you the joy of socialism.

Is this a serious thread?

You know no one is proposing communism here, right?

You know that South Korea employs "socialism", right?

You know that North Korea is run by an insane dictator who has isolated his country from the rest of the world, right?

Of course you don't. That's why you created this retarded thread.

"But let socialist like Bernie and his lazy followers tell you the joy of socialism."

Or I can just ask Wall Street.

This fails as a preach to the choir fallacy, no one advocates for "socialism," including Sanders.

Obviously youre an idiot. S. Korea has some of the worst poverty I have ever witnessed and I grew up in the ghetto. If it were not for they US military presence it would be even worse.

How South Korea became South Korea - lots of socialism: ERIEP

". Change of Industrial Policies and Industrial Structure
4 The world respected the rapid growth of Korean economy, and cited the phenomenal growth as the “Miracle of Han River” and the country as one of the “Asian Tigers.” The actual economic development was launched in 1962 with the first Five-Year Economic Development Plan (1962 to 1966). Since then, Korea has accomplished a remarkable annual growth rate of 7.3% and has enabled a high speed growth in about 45 years by recording a GNI per capita of US$20,000 in 2007 (KICOX, 2011). In 1971, Korean GNI per capita was US$291, but in 1977, the GNI per capita topped US$1,000 with the success of exports reaching US$10 billion. The figure topped US$20,000 first in 2007, and despite the drop after the 2008 crisis, the GNI per capita reached US$20,000 again in 2010. Although Figure 1 shows a profound fall after the 1997 and 2008 crises, the GNI per capita has increased significantly with industrial development. A large portion of this success was attributed to the tremendous growth of exports. The amount of exports was over US$500 billion in 2011, while exports were only over US$1 billion in 1971, US$10 billion in 1977, and US$100 billion in 1995 (Figure 1). This rapid growth was attributed to the strong industrial policies of the Korean government."

"2.1. Industrial Policies until the 1990s
5 Industrial policies in the 1960s and 1970s were characterized as selective promotions of particular industrial sectors with artificial allocation of resources by national government intervention."

Government action can work, kids, when you are actually governing that is.

There is another previous example as well. Germany. Following WWII, the country was divided into East and West. The East was Socialist/Communist ruled and the West was Democratic/Capitalist ruled. The same results over time happened there as well.

Now let me tell you what you're going to hear from the Socialists....

You know no one is proposing communism here, right?

You noticed this little retort right out of the gate and it's important to know why. The idea of Communism has been around a long time. In the late 18th century, philosophers developed a plan for how to bring about Communist Utopia. It was through Marxist Socialism. So the stated objective, reason and purpose for Marxism is to pave the way for Communism.

The problem is, every time Communism is achieved it turns into something ugly and grotesque, generally ending violently with unimaginable atrocities and genocide. It has such an undesirable track record, the Marxist understands that the idea of Communist Utopia is dead... done for... kaput. And so, in order to continue their agenda, they must disguise what they are promoting. They disavow Communism and convey an image of some new type of Socialism that is harmless and benign, if only we would give it a chance to make the world a perfect place. Same Rose, different name.

Sorry, but South Korea did not rely on a lot of socialism to change their country. It was a study of taking the best from the other Asian countries and developing their private sector industry to compete. Their "socialism" was only that the government agreed to finance businesses that could advance industrial development within the country, but this was just preforming a banking function in a country that otherwise had not developed that infrastructure far enough at that time.

Korea relied upon a tight control of any FDI (Foreign Direct Investment) to protect local industries and business negotiations were in favor of domestic firms and against foreign competitors in local markets. They banned many consumer goods and raw materials imports which could be produced locally. Korea adapted the protectionist lessons from the Japanese keiretsu to which many Korean firms were connected through OEM and joint ventures. Korea developed a strong local capitalist class by relying on its local ‘tycoons’. The government relied on these tycoons to build the country's prosperity. These tycoons are the stuff of legend in Korea.

Wealthy Capitalist built Korea and they did it with a lot less freedom of the people than was found in the USA. Let's not kid ourselves about what raw capitalism backed by the government can do to transform a nation.

So, you approve of State Capitalism?

Fucking Commie.

Do you know the difference between socialism and a totalitarian family dictatorship?

We all know he doesn't.

Yes, I'm a Commie like the founding fathers of our country were. You are a dumb ass.
You seem plenty big on the strong hand of government to help build an economy? To those here, that makes you a fucking commie.

...and it makes you a fucking asshole who doesn't know the difference between Communism and Protectionist Capitalism. To those here, that makes you a fucking moron who talks out their ass.

Not all government is bad and it doesn't need to be big to protect it's industry. We started off with a Protectionist Capitalist society as before the current income tax system beginning in 1916, the government funded almost all of its operating budget from import and export tariffs. This tariff system served the same function in protecting our growing industries from competition from sources outside our country.

Don't even try to tell me that that is a communist principle as it is not.

You are just a dumb fuck.

Oh the communist gets angry when he's called out for being the communist that he is.

Holy Shit, Jack4Jill you've only been a member of this community since 4/17/16 and you have already posted 2,690 times. Not only do I find it hilarious that you are telling me what people on this site believe after only being a part of the community for a little over a month, but I think you are a paid hack to devote that much wasted time to your arguments on this site.

You are one opinionated and dedicated jackass.
