Televangelist Jim Bakker: Impeach Trump, Christians Will Start A Second Civil War

The Electoral College is essential. Small states like Nevada would not feel like a participant in elections if every President was decided by Los Angeles, Chicago and New York City.

The population of the top five cities (New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Houston and Philadelphia) is only 6% of the population of the United States.

Voters in the biggest cities in the US are almost exactly balanced out by rural areas in terms of population and partisan composition.

16% of the U.S. population lives outside the nation's Metropolitan Statistical Areas. Rural America has voted 60% Republican. None of the 10 most rural states matter now.

16% of the U.S. population lives in the top 100 cities. They voted 63% Democratic in 2004.

The population of the top 50 cities (going as far down as Arlington, TX) is only 15% of the population of the United States.

The rest of the U.S., in suburbs, divide almost exactly equally between Republicans and Democrats.

A survey of Nevada voters in 2008 showed 72% overall support for a national popular vote for President.

With National Popular Vote, when every popular vote counts and matters to the candidates equally, successful candidates will find a middle ground of policies appealing to the wide mainstream of America. Instead of playing mostly to local concerns in Ohio and Florida, candidates finally would have to form broader platforms for broad national support. Elections wouldn't be about winning a handful of battleground states.

Fourteen of the 15 smallest states by population are ignored like the big ones because they’re not swing states. Small states are safe states. Only New Hampshire gets significant attention.

Support for a national popular vote has been strong in every smallest state surveyed in polls among Republicans, Democrats, and Independent voters, as well as every demographic group

Among the 13 lowest population states, the National Popular Vote bill has passed in 9 state legislative chambers, and been enacted by 4 jurisdictions.

Now political clout comes from being among the handful of battleground states. 70-80% of states and voters are ignored by presidential campaign polling, organizing, ad spending, and visits. Their states’ votes were conceded months before by the minority parties in the states, taken for granted by the dominant party in the states, and ignored by all parties in presidential campaigns.

State winner-take-all laws negate any simplistic mathematical equations about the relative power of states based on their number of residents per electoral vote. Small state math means absolutely nothing to presidential campaign polling, organizing, ad spending, and visits, or to presidents once in office.

In the 25 smallest states in 2008, the Democratic and Republican popular vote was almost tied (9.9 million versus 9.8 million), as was the electoral vote (57 versus 58).

In 2012, 24 of the nation's 27 smallest states received no attention at all from presidential campaigns after the conventions. They were ignored despite their supposed numerical advantage in the Electoral College. In fact, the 8.6 million eligible voters in Ohio received more campaign ads and campaign visits from the major party campaigns than the 42 million eligible voters in those 27 smallest states combined.

The 12 smallest states are totally ignored in presidential elections. These states are not ignored because they are small, but because they are not closely divided “battleground” states.

Now with state-by-state winner-take-all laws (not mentioned in the U.S. Constitution, but later enacted by 48 states), presidential elections ignore 12 of the 13 lowest population states (3-4 electoral votes), that are non-competitive in presidential elections. 6 regularly vote Republican (AK, ID, MT, WY, ND, and SD), and 6 regularly vote Democratic (RI, DE, HI, VT, ME, and DC) in presidential elections.

Similarly, the 25 smallest states have been almost equally noncompetitive. They voted Republican or Democratic 12-13 in 2008 and 2012.

Voters in states, of all sizes, that are reliably red or blue don't matter. Candidates ignore those states and the issues they care about most.

Jim Bakker is banking on fear of war.

Jim Bakker is the disgraced and defrocked televangelist from the 1980s. Before prison, he was getting rich as a pretribber (liars who say Jesus will rapture the church and then there will be a great, global tribulation). After prison, he changed his con and became a post-tribber. (liars who say...) Now he uses his "ministry" to sell survival food and equipment for Christians to survive the tribulation.
Yep. Bakker and his sloppy, put-makeup-on-with-a-trowel pig of a wife were both lying sacks of shit. They fleeced their followers for years. They remind me of Cumrag Orange in many ways.

Especially in the endless ways they bend their followers over the desk while screaming *Who's Your Daddy.* Yet, all the while, their dim-witted supporters smile and come back for more. MAGA, LolLolLol....

.
Conservatives forget the only reason the Big Orange Idiot is president is due to the archaic system of the Electoral College. Big Orange LOST the popular vote by nearly 3 million votes. He has no mandate from the people, and so far, has shown he represents the principles of only a small percentage of the American population.

The Big Orange Idiot’s 34% approval rating, coupled with his 61% disapproval rating are strong indicators that Bakker’s prediction, threat, wet dream, or whatever it is, is total bullsh!t.

If the “Christians” do begin shooting, what do they expect will happen? That police forces will join them? Not likely. Who will be their first targets? People of color? That will be considered murder, not “legitimate” war.

The congressional Republicans, should they decide to both, impeach and take the necessary legal actions to remove Big Orange from office, will have the support of a far larger percentage of the American people than the “Christian" insurrectionists.

Jim Bakker might speak for a handful of Nazis, but most members of Nazi groups are much too cowardly to actually take up arms against the U.S. military or local police forces.

Conservatives, especially those “Christians” Bakker believes will rebel if Big Orange is kicked out, have forgotten the results of the silly shenanigans of the Cliven Bundy family and friends in Nevada and Oregon. (One dead- eight in jail, and the first to be convicted, Gregory Burleson sentenced to 68 years in prison.)

To get a successful rebellion up and running here in the U.S., the “Christians” will need substantial financing. Where are they going to find the billionaire sugar-daddies they will need? The Koch Bros.? Sheldon Adelson? Foster Friess? Who?

Before you lunatics start shooting, you’d better get your sh!t together. First, get the money you will need (multi-billions of $). Then hire a few military strategists, buy and distribute all of the equipment and ordnance you’re going to need for a protracted war. Establish training camps, you don’t want a bunch of amateurs making fools out of your armies. And DO NOT rely on the Nazi militias running around the U.S. Most members don’t have the fighting ability they claim, and will let you down immediately when the going gets rough.

Conservative Christians are terrified of the cultural diversity in the U.S. They have been terrified since this country was founded. Conservatives fought the Civil War only to maintain the status quo of the time.

But, they lost that war, and the changes that followed were too much for the conservatives to handle, and are to this day.

Conservatives have decided, Nazism and the hatred (and if possible, the destruction) of everyone unlike themselves is the ticket back to the good old days. The conservatives' are convinced their final solution is at hand with the Big Orange Idiot in the White House.

Wow, liberals have stooped to using a white supremacist website and now disgraced faux Christian huckster Jim Bakker as legitimate news sources with which to attack Donald Trump...

You can't get more desperate than that.

Lefties are now listening to Jim Bakker? I haven't heard his name in years, he is still alive?

Bakker is proof that only the good die young.

The Electoral College is essential. Small states like Nevada would not feel like a participant in elections if every President was decided by Los Angeles, Chicago and New York City.

Yes, without the electoral college, politicians running for office would spend all their time in the big population centers, ignoring the majority of Americans who are spread out.

Another benefit of the electoral college is when California allows potentially millions of illegal immigrants to vote, California can't steal the election from the whole country.

When someone says Trump lost the popular vote, that vote wasn't his goal. If he were trying for the popular vote, he would have spent a lot of time in California telling Californians that they're great.
The candidate with the most votes should win. Plain and simple. The electoral college is a anachronism and needs to go the same way as Blockbusters and betamaxes.

Get the Amendment going, If it means that much to you.

If Trump were somehow forced out, I'd guess there would be a few sporadic violent outbreaks. Probably they'd just break stuff and hoot 'n holler.

Then we all move on.
.

I don't think anything would happen. The right would go to work the next morning and move on. It seems the left is the violent group. After Trump was elected the left wingers rioted, the right went to work. After Obama became President, the right didn't even protest, they went to work. The left is wanting to pretend there will be violence so they can start violence.

You try to impeach the president based on a fishing expedition, it doesn't take rocket science to figure out that people will be fighting in the streets.

Conservatives have decided, Nazism and the hatred (and if possible, the destruction) of everyone unlike themselves is the ticket back to the good old days. The conservatives' are convinced their final solution is at hand with the Big Orange Idiot in the White House.

.
Or maybe its more likely because liberals are lackadaisical jerks that take for granted the entire electoral process, as if things just change because of media and loudmouth assholes. It depends on them actually VOTING. Protesting and rioting aside. Kind of why the tortoise won the race with the hare.

Is it another (tax exempt) Media Matters coup or does "The Hill" usually quote televangelists? Isn't it obvious that Bakker is using the term "Civil War" figuratively rather than literally? If Christians tolerated the (yuck yuck) New York society art show that featured the Crucifix upside down in a vat of urine and the Christian Virgin Mary covered with animal dung not to mention federal thugs smashing the Ten Commandments from the wall of a court house without inciting a civil war, the violent crazy lefties who rioted and burned cars on inauguration day and attempted to murder republican baseball players have nothing to fear from Jim Bakker. The story is just another Alinsky twist to reality.
