The debt limit!

Because printing money devalues the dollar and that then lowers the interest rate and make are products more competitive in the world market. Lot of it can be printed, but the balance is critical , the solution is tax the filthy fat rich. Simple

Given the fact that the top 20% of our income earners pay close to 90% of all collected income taxes, and most of the bottom 50% pay none, maybe it's time we start taxing those who pay nothing instead of those that pay the most. Oh, we can't do that. If we started taxing people that don't pay any, they might revolt against Democrat pork and vote buying.

who in the hell decides , the politicians decide, and you pick the politician that represents what you think is right. You decide. If the people decide they want something from the government , then raise the taxes to get it. Not complicated at all. You hate Nazis think that it is your decision , that makes you wrong .
No, we will not raise taxes and instead cut wasteful spending, of which there is an enormous amount.

We didnt spend money on golf.
December 24 2020
Donald Trump has arrived at his Palm Beach, Florida, resort for the 31st golf vacation there of his presidency, raising the taxpayer-funded travel and security total for his hobby to $151.5 million.

Trump has already played golf on his own properties 289 times since taking office in January 2017, although he claimed during his 2016 campaign that he would not have time for a vacation at all. “I just want to stay in the White House and work my ass off,” he said in February 2016.

The $151.5 million total means that Trump has now spent the equivalent of 379 years of presidential salary — which he and his supporters frequently boast that he does not take — playing golf.

Youre talking about security and travel expenses, which every president has.. Golf didnt cost anything.

Trump's golf didn't cost us anything, because he was golfing at his resorts, but what about his security, while playing golf?
Trump charged his entourage for golf carts, food and hotel rooms.

They're trying to bring Democrats to the table now to discuss spending cuts by stating they will not raise the debt ceiling, and they're still not budging. They want to continue pork spending, vote buying, and then try to send the bill to wealthy people for all their antics.

MMT is pretty good at explaining that.

However, that deviates from my original post. I was questioning why we were borrowing money to be repaid with interest when we can print it ourselves at no cost
My point is you can't print your way out of this deficit. You can print some of your way out of it, but not all the way out of it. And once more it is a delicate balancing act.

Preparing to ‘play chicken’ with default: Understanding Republicans’ ‘debt limit terror’

The United States is the only major industrial nation with a debt ceiling. America’s debt ceiling, moreover, applies only to budgetary appropriations that have already been made; it has no impact on future spending or borrowing. Indeed, as one legal scholar has argued, since legislation passed by Congress and signed by the president implicitly authorizes the U.S. Treasury to spend the money necessary to implement it, a separate requirement to increase the accrued debt creates the possibility of default, and may therefore be unconstitutional.

In any event, although debates about the national debt have become increasingly partisan, Congress and the president have agreed to increase the debt ceiling over 100 times since World War II. The debt limit has also been “suspended” — a distinction, made for political reasons, without a substantive difference — seven times. The debt ceiling was raised three times while Donald Trump was President. In 2019, when Congress suspended the debt ceiling until July 2021, Trump exulted that the agreement was “phenomenal.” The ceiling has been raised twice with Joe Biden in the White House.

We can't worry about the debt, Biden has one more time to raise the debt. If if's good for tramp why not make it good for Biden.

You are too stupid for words. We can't spend forever. it isn't feasible, grow up child.

It's far cheaper to protect the president if he remains in Washington. Trump's many trips to his golf courses cost the US taxpayers many millions.

Totally wasteful.

And you don't think it costs us anything when they go other places?

Since January 2021, Biden has spent 236 days on unofficial rest and relaxation. He has traveled to his homes in Rehoboth Beach and Wilmington, Delaware, 55 times for a grand total of 174 days, and spent 64 days at the official presidential retreat at Camp David, spread across 19 individual trips.

Maybe we could cut a few hundred billion out of the military and raise taxes on the rich! We need to pass a debt limit rise!

Didn't hear a peep from republicans, when Trump spent $151 million of US taxpayer $$$ on golf.

Republicans always bitch about it when the other parties in office. It is pure bullcrap! And it always leads to them being throw out of office too. You don't call them the party of the stupid for nothing.

The American people want a strong safetynet, infrastructure, science and spending within our borders. We don't want to live in a third world crap hole.
