The program worked with the sheriffs departments and schools to help troubled kids who committ misdomendor offenses. Instead of arresting them and giving them a criminal record they would work with them in other ways. It had an extremely high rate of kids that didn’t commit repeat offenses. Serious crimes still resulted in arrests. The program handled mostly things like fights, marijuana, disruptive behavior etc. and the cops were involved.
