The First Album You Ever Bought..

and it was considered by many to just be a passing fad.....
There have been 4 major events in rock history that changed the coarse of music for the entire world!

The first event was rock's genesis. When we went from Frank Sinatra music, to Bill Haley's "Rock around the Clock".

The second event was the British invasion when we went from 50's doo-wop bands to the Beatles.

The third event was when we went from this...

To this...

The fourth event was the day the hair bands died...

[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XH332wYtO6w]Nirvana - Smells Like Teen Spirit (Studio Version) - YouTube[/ame]

in the 50's though Rock n Roll was already going, they just could not get over the "hill"....the Beatles and the GOOD Bands that followed got them over that hill.....

Hall and Oates: Big Bam Boom. 1984, my first year in the service. Great times.

I used to see H & O down in a private club in Ft Lauderdale in the mid 70's.. Some of the best live music I ever had the priviledge to see and hear.

Not to derail the thread but if ya like the Hall and Oates ...ya gotta go to Daryll's House and watch all the videos he produced with some of the best talent in the world..

As far as I am concerned this album changed the music scene more than any other album

You could categorize

music by before Pepper and after Pepper.

In 61 I was 12 ...I was walking with my golf clubs on the road to the course and a young guy...maybe 18-19 years old pulled over and asked if I needed a ride.. The car was a brand new chev Impala convertable 409. The guy asked if I wanted to go on a ride and I said..Ya..(duh) We went through Eastsound and up the switchback roads to the top of Mout Constitution. Then back down to the golf course. There were a few straight long roads ..fairly narrow by todays standards with deep ditches on both sides..(Farm country)

Anyway he got the chev well up over a hundred on a few occasions. I don't remember his name but rich guys frequently came up to the island. It was pretty exciting. My mom would have shit if she knew about it. I never told her.

The car was AWESOME!!!!!

I was a monster even at 12. I already had a Jeep pickup and a Mini Cooper back at the farm. I drove all the time. I was not your typical 12 year old. The guy was lucky I let him keep his car.

Wow, I don't remember it's been so long ago. I had an older brother and sister and I remember Pat Boone's Love Letters in the Sand from a really early age. We didn't have much money, but my mother gave me a dollar a week for an 'allowance.' Most of my friends bought records, but I was more into saving my dollars up and buying something cute to wear.

I do recall in high school the record store had a 'secret agent' contest. The prize was a transistor radio. They would choose someone to be the secret agent and everyone in the school was supposed to ask everyone else if they were the store's secret agent. The DJ was driving by my house and saw me in the yard, so he stopped and gave me the radio making me the secret agent. I knew I was likely to get asked because I was a cheerleader, so I ducked into every dark corner I could to be there and not really be seen. No one asked, and I won the radio. That radio was a treasured item all through high school.

I'm the youngest in my family...I had 4 older sisters and an older brother. I remember a ton of the music they used to play!

Ahhhh...man, you're taking me back! I was 8 years old when this came out. I think this tune was actually the B side of the 45.

My brother used to love Dion.

My sisters used to have this one. I was 4 years old.

I remember that when I was five years old there was a song named "Norman" that I used to just love!!!!! Everyone in my family had to be totally quiet while I sung along with it. Does anyone besides me remember that song? I have no idea who did it...but when I was 5 years old it was 1962. I've never found it on you tube...Lord, I'd probably hate it today, but it would be interesting to hear it again.

I remember a few lyrics:

"Norman, oooooo,oo,ooooo...ooo..oo, ooo, ooo
Norman, my love."
