The Democrats come into office , pass all their Socialist bullshit, piss everyone off, and the result is a landslide victory for the Republicans.
The Republicans take control of everything, start telling people the truth about how Social Security and Welfare programs aren't built to last which energizes the freebie citizens, the Republicans come up with excuses of why they aren't going to overturn other Democrat policies, the public becomes disillusioned and stops going to the polls, and the Democrats win office again.

Social security can last just fine with a few relatively simple tweaks, and welfare doesn't cost that much in the grand scheme of things.

This country has far bigger problems than those two things.

If the crazies control the GOP messaging, the Dems indeed will get power back.
