The former general of the Union Army, U.S. Grant was a ruthless tyrant who would have been hanged for war crimes if the Union didn't win the War. Ordering Union troops to make waste the innocent civilians in the Shenandoah Valley so that a crow wouldn't be able to survive and authorizing the burning of Atlanta is indicative of a ruthless drunk. It's no wonder that the Grant administration, 1869-1877, is generally considered to have been the most corrupt administration in history.
