$181 million seems to be a lot of money to spend to save only 10 minutes on a 3 1/2 hour trip. You can't even get a pizza to go in that amount of time.

The new service is supposed to make the journey between Portland and Seattle in 3 hours and 20 minutes, about 10 minutes faster than previous services.

The rails were just upgraded for,high speed passenger service. So the infrastructure along there was fine, quit playing silly games.

Why would the train be going 80MPH around such a sharp curve? It seems like they would know to slow down in curves like that.

It's the last turn before a long straight stretch between Philly and Trenton. My guess is the conductor thought he was already past that corner and opened it up for the straight.
