Did Trump say that Neo-nazis and white supremacists are "fine people" as the MSM still promotes?

Trump was referring to the confederate statue debate, not the KKK/Nazi rally.
There was NO confederate statue debate, that is just another Tramp LIE, and nobody knows that better than you! The Nazi/KKK rally was called "the Unite the Right Rally" not the "debate the statues honoring traitors rally." It was meant to unite the KKK and Nazis with their CON$ervoFascist brothers like Tramp.
I saw the compete video, Trump denounced the Neo-nazis and the white supremacists. The MSM and their KoodAde drinkers keep lying about it.
That doesn't change the fact that there was NO statue debate and no one was there to debate statues, it was advertised as a KKK rally sponsored by the dailystormer, therefore the only "fine people" Tramp was talking about were fine Nazis and fine KKK.

There was a debate...there was a rally (probably in support of the statues?!)...there were protesters...the rest we know...IMHO the "root cause" of the rally/protest/death was the debate about Confederate statues, otherwise please explain what the "rally" was about.

Well glad we have the writings from the daily stormer who helped put it together.

"Although the rally was initially planned in support of the Lee Monument, which the Jew Mayor and his Negroid Deputy have marked for destruction, it has become something much bigger than that. It is now an historic rally, which will serve as a rallying point and battle cry for the rising Alt-Right movement"

Eww. That's gross.. I don't see why ANYONE would support that myself. But if it's your kinda thing...

You are trying to say this looks like your run of the mill pro Confederate rally?

1. A link to the daily stormer would be nice, to show you're not composing..
2. That quote does prove my point that there was a debate about the statues, then the Neo-nazis and KKK went "Alt-Right".
3. The fact that there was a legitimate "debate" about the statues, and that the pro-statue side did have sincere positions not related to the white-supremacist rally, i.e. Robert E. Lee was a great general, etc. means that Trump's fine people comment was intended for the non-KKK, but pro-statue supporters.

Do you believe that all Confederate statues should be destroyed?

2. There is a debate about the statues. I don't care if the Nazis and Klan are holding a prayer breakfast or poker run, I don't think good people associate with them.

3. As for the statues they were built to try and rewrite history, and put those who renounced their citizenship and rebelled against the US, killing hundreds of thousands of American men women and children for the stated cause of protecting an expanding race based chattel slavery. I think they can be shown in museums for the horrors they inflicted upon the USA, how many were put up in opposition to a civil rights to show who still controlled the south. I don't think those leaders deserve to be honored in the country they fought against. Just like if in 100 years people build statues honoring the 9/11 terrorists or fort Hood shooter I don't think those would be people worth honoring.

That's the big one. Many pro Confederate groups ahead of the rally said they wouldn't be attending because of the Nazis. A lot of those Rally's specifically ban Nazis and the KKK from openly participating. Many have historians as the speakers to extoll the "virtues" of the Confederacy. This one not only welcomed Nazis and the Klan but was put on by them. They headlined the event. It was Klan and nazi leaders as speakers. It wasn't chants about saving statues but anti semitic and Nazi chants.

But somehow people who attend that can be "very nice people" as long as you don't go full on Nazi? Just be a sympathizer with them and you are still ok?
I know. These people were marching along screaming at the top of their lungs Jews will not replace us.

But for some reason, Republicans call that peaceful protest. What are they protesting?

Yup I won't ever defend this. The night before, the Torchlight rally chanting Nazi slogans and giving Nazi salutes. Because we all know Robert E Lee was a great Axis WWII General..

"No, no. There were people in that rally, and I looked the night before. If you look, they were people protesting very quietly, the taking down the statue of Robert E. Lee"

Trump

1. Was the rally illegal? Y/N? If it was, why weren't they arrested?
2. Trump denounced the Neo-nazis and white supremacists, I saw the video.
3. Saying anything else is total bullshi
t.

Nobody is arguing if it is legal or not. You can lie to your wife and say that you're going to church and instead go cheat on her and get an abortion... and that is legal.

2. What he didn't denounce was those who while not card carrying Nazis and Klan members, still went to join them and give them their support.

3. When you have to lie to defend your point t you don't have a point.

Attending this is NOT what very fine people in my opinion do. My moral code there. You can say joining this is just fine. That's yours.

1. OK, the rally was "legal", even as we disagree with them, and I'm not saying I'd defend with my life their right to say it...
2. I did not see any pro-statue folks marching with the Nazis?! As you posted, the rally went from "pro-statue" to full "Alt-Right".
3. I'm not lying. I saw the Trump video where he denounced the Neo-nazis and white-supremacists.

I'm not a supporter of the Alt-Right.
I do support fair trade deals, a great economy, better jobs, moving confederate statues to historic battlefields and not destroying them, and an MSM that does not lie and put up fake news articles.

1. The fake news MSM continually characterizes Trump's comment as "fine people" referring to both the "white supremacists and Neo-nazis" as well as the protesters.
2. Trump said "see the entire tape" and you will see that he actually said that the "fine people" was referring to was both debate sides over the removal of the Robert E. Lee statue. I saw the entire tape and Trump did say that he condemns Neo-nazis and white supremacists. He further clarified that Robert E. Lee was one of the greatest generals the US ever produced, and that his strategies are still studied and useful today.

3. Trump Didn't Call Neo-Nazis 'Fine People.' Here's Proof. | RealClearPolitics

When you're explaining, you're losing.

I think Trump is a buffoonish clown and douchebag, but I genuinely don't believe he thinks there are fine people who are neo-Nazis. I think he was referring to supporters of the Confederacy, most of whom aren't neo-Nazis.

What I do think is that he handled it very poorly, and continued to exacerbate divisions in the country. If he wanted to say that there were fine Confederates, he should have first condemned the neo-Nazis, then explicitly say that there were good people in the Confederacy.

The problem Trump has is that he doesn't have a lot of credibility (outside of his base who will believe anything he says). When he says that he doesn't know who David Duke is and won't condemn him (until he gets a ton of criticism), that's pure bullshit. So when he is unclear about events like Charlottesville, he understandably gets hammered for it.

Agreed. And he could have listed those Confederate groups who put out they wouldn't be attending this rally for it's Nazi and Klan acceptance and influence (,even the proud boys gave that as a reason they wouldn't support it) for making the right call.

What bothers me most is saying the night before which he said he saw was quiet and about Lee, when not one video of it showed anything but a plain old Nazi rally. And yeah the Duke stuff was upsetting. Talks about him in the past then plays coy and ignorant when asked directly about him.

It's that tacit acceptance of them where he HAS to denounce the die hard card carrying ones, but says you can dip your toes in their stuff if you like and still be a fine American that upsets me. FUCK that.

It's lying and giving those who showed up an out saying it wasn't clear it was a Nazi rally, when for months the Nazis had been promoting it as such and the media had been calling that out.

You shouldn't have to toe the line on Nazis and the Klan. You shouldn't have to Wade those waters. Call them a bunch of sick twats and if you lose voters and supporters for saying that, so be it. Let them vote for the next national socialist party member next time.

You are for fair trade. As am I. If there's dozens of protests for fair trade, would you choose the one put on by the Nazis and Klan that is going to have some aspects related to supporting that? Or would you say "even though they are supporting the same thing I do, a Nazi rally is not something I will lend my voice to".

I know morality is a personal thing but I don't believe good people go and sympathize and support Nazis and the Klan if their causes kind of align.

I love a good prayer breakfast. If my church says we are going out to the lake since there's a big Nazi rally that's also holding a prayer breakfast then having their leaders speak, and we want to join them instead of going the following week... I find a new church.

And that's just me and my moral stance. Some people may say it's fine to join them. I can only talk for myself.

1. I call bullshit that pro-statue people joined the Neo-nazi rally. Were they also kicking the antifa kids' asses in the riot that followed when that girl got killed?
2. The rally was not the defining moment for the "statue debate" the debate was ongoing, and is still ongoing. They are two separate things. The rally was for Neo-nazis, and the debate is about what to do with the Confederate statues.
3. Agree, 'fine people" don't join Neo-nazi rallys and marches (they didn't, as your lake example shows)
4. This thread is about the MSM using fake news and taking what Trump said out of context regarding the "fine people" referring to the "statue debate" or the "Neo-nazi rally and riot". It's a matter of journalistic integrity vs fake news.

I guess the tables turned would be another way to look at it.

Let's say a group of pro isis/Al qaeda people and the Black Liberation Militia put together a rally to oppose global warming (a hot topic debate that they don't really exist to fight but has supporters and rallies with people on both sides of the issue) 6 years ago. And their headline speakers weren't scientists for global warming but the leaders of the groups. And their chants were "death to the white man" instead of "stop global warming".

And counter protesters against those groups showed up and one of the members of the nation if Islam ran into a crowd and blew himself up wounding people and killing one.

And Obama took the stage and said while he is against the Black Liberation Militia and Islamic extremists, It was a rally about global warming, they had their permits, and there were many fine people who joined that rally. And even though those groups and the media for months had shown that it was their rally, Obama said it wasn't clear beforehand it was their rally. And the night before as they were burning American flags and shouting "Allah akhbar" and "death to America" he said that was a quiet rally about global warming.

See how you have to lie and take that out of context to make your claim..

Reporter: "The neo-Nazis started this. They showed up in Charlottesville to protest --"

Trump: "Excuse me, excuse me. They didn’t put themselves -- and you had some very bad people in that group, but you also had people that were very fine people, on both sides. You had people in that group. Excuse me, excuse me. I saw the same pictures as you did. You had people in that group that were there to protest the taking down of, to them, a very, very important statue and the renaming of a park from Robert E. Lee to another name."

The question was literally about the rally in Charlottesville. Trump's response was literally about "that group" pictures from that day and those protesters.

Trying to rewrite that doesn't change it.

Like you say. That group separated its rally from the statue debate to a white supremacist rally. And Trump said people who joined "that group" were very fine people.

All of your links are from AFTER the NAZI/KKK rally you support, so how could they be the "root cause" of the KKK rally?????
I will let the rally organizers explain what their NAZI/KKK rally was about, "TO END JEWISH INFLUENCE IN AMERICA." It's right there on the second line from the bottom of their promotional poster. Now tell me please, what exactly Jewish influence in America has to do with confederate statues of traitors???

“Kellyanne Conway brought up Charlottesville during a Sunday morning interview, and her failed defense of Trump was that he was talking about statues, not racists.

Conway tried to claim that Trump was discussing monuments, not neo-Nazis when he said that there were fine people on both sides.”

Biden Strategy Works As Flustered Kellyanne Conway Can’t Defend Trump

Those are statues of racists – the most reprehensible kind.

that makes no sense. The question was stated specifically about the rally in Charlottesville that previous day. And Trump specifically responded about "that group". Even mentioning the pictures from that rally and specifically calling out that park in his response.

It would be like if Tom Brady showed up to training camp overweight and somebody asked him how heavy he is and he answers 250 lbs. and then later when the backlash comes he says that he was just answering what the average weight of an NFL player is... It is a lie trying to rewrite it not based in reality.

Supporters of the ‘confederacy’ are racists, the ‘confederacy’ itself was racist – it sought to perpetuate slavery.

And those who fought for the ‘confederacy’ were likewise racists.

As Lee invaded Maryland, he took freed slaves in to custody and returned them to slavery.

There was nothing ‘good’ or ‘noble’ or ‘honorable’ about the ‘confederacy’ or those who fought to defend it – including those depicted in ‘monuments.’

‘Monuments’ created solely to intimidate blacks and promote the racist policies of Jim Crow, black codes, and segregation.

That is what Trump is likewise defending - whether he's too ignorant and stupid to realize that or not is irrelevant.

Trump when asked a few days ago to clarify his very fine people statement about the people in that Charlottesville rally.

"If you look at what I said you will see that that question was answered perfectly, I was talking about people that went because they felt very strongly about the monument to Robert E. Lee, a great general.”

Me personally. How strongly I feel about the Confederacy or global warming, or any other hot topic is not strong enough to attend a Nazi/KKK rally partially about it. I don't think very fine people do that.

So to say he was talking about the larger group of other people protesting the statues NOT at the Nazi rally is a lie and revision of the facts.

I call BULLSHIT on your post!

Claiming that a statue debate existed does not mean the Nazi/KKK anti-Jewish rally was part of that debate. It is obvious it wasn't. you know it and Tramp knows it, you two just can't ever admit the truth!
