The 250k to 500k folks ARE your middle class. And is he going to hammer them. His tax rates are simply to high for anything but government to grow.

Here's what the tax code would look like if Bernie Sanders got everything he wanted

If you increase my taxes I have to increase the price of the products so I cover the cost of my loss. Since I'm doing it that means other people are doing the same. Which means I have to raise my prices to cover the increased expense of the products I want to purchase. Which means other people are doing the same. And round and round we go.

NOTE: I have rental property. The city decided to raise funds for the school by having the people vote for a tax increase of $5 on every $1000 of property value. Now I have to raise the rent to cover the loss because I was planning to retire in the decade or so. Since the property taxes on that single piece of property went up $600 a year I'm raising the rent $100 a month to cover that increase and the inflation of maintenance and repair costs in the next year or so. That's right I don't plan to let the property go to hell and be worthless. The people who live in this property are on SSI so each one living there will see their rent increase by $25 a month at minimum...

Now times that by several rental homes, in addition to other investments I've made, along with a military pension, and you have a nice little retirement plan.

Needless to say a person should think about it prior to voting on a tax increase because I certainly do.

This is the way life works and you can't stop me because it's my investment and part of my retirement plan.

Employers will save a ton of money not having to pay for employee health care, and will have a more healthy populace to hire from. Wages and profits will increase.

The health care taxes wouldn't affect your rentals dumb ass.

That's actually a very fair plan because with a higher minimum wage, millions of people would actually start paying taxes, which has been of course a point of consternation among conservative folks.

He'd basically be erasing only 35 years of perpetual tax cuts, taking us back the early Ronald Reagan days in the 80's.

Conservatives have to face the fact that no one wants Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security to be cut. Nor do people want to see major cuts in defense. That means we need to collectively pitch in.

Liberals will have to face the fact that old white conservatives prefer women in their thirties at their peak of sex.

FYI: At 250k you can use the tax loopholes reserved for the rich. If you made that much you would know.
What tax loopholes are those?
Tax loopholes sound line rum running to me.
edit: my rich neighbor drives new Cadillac's and charges it off as a business expense. A nice rich neighbor who brings me food that I do not want but I am polite and respectful, most of the time.

Whoa. Digging into the article and the details a bit - yeah, jeez, Bernie.

This would definitely "get" them rich folks 'n stuff, but I wonder if he and (especially) his supporters are considering any unintended consequences.

Even Vox points out a few, and this is no conservative rag.

Obama has started us on the road to "fundamental change", no doubt, and this would put us there.

It should be noted that the blogger who wrote this is making many assumptions. Those assumptions are not actually coming from Bernie Sanders.

And...let's not miss this from the author:

"Now, marginal rates aren't everything. Most people wouldn't see an actual tax increase of 8.8 percent, even if their marginal rate goes up that much. Effective tax rates — the amount you're actually paying as a percentage of income — also depend on deductions and credits."

Isn't it amazing to know that if the debt wasn't so high, neither would his tax plan need be? Instead of addressing the debt, he doubles down, keeps the debt, and spends more. And some of these people think this is a brilliant idea!

So, in other words in the world according to these people; when you have run yourself into debt so far that you are in deep trouble, the thing to do is.............run yourself further into debt, and never address any of the debt you already have!

There is an old proverb that applies here------------> if the correct thing to do, was the easy thing to do, then everybody would choose to do the correct thing!

We have heard schemes for forever from politicians how they can fix all of our problems, and you won't feel any pain at all while they do it. How has that worked out for us over the past 2 decades? And yet, some people believe the lies, and the tooth fairy too!

Each and every person in this country should look in the mirror every night, and recite what is reality when dealing with phony politicians with false promises of nirvana------> fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me. If I keep allowing you people to fool me, I am honestly as dumb as a box of rocks!

Sorry. The "schemes" aren't the same. People who have supported failed policies for decades......people like you.....throw up their arms and exclaim that "they all suck".....as a defense mechanism.

Sanders is attempting to reverse the failed trickle down policies that put us where we are. His "scheme" hasn't been tried since the 1960's.

Oh yes, you are correct, almost. It stopped being in vogue in the late 70s, early 80s, when the USSR collapsed but hey, you were close, and good for you!

Are you sure your not talking about Bill Clinton ?

It surely does by increasing the cost of materials I have to purchase and any labor I need to hire for repairs and maintenance.

In addition since I do a lot of the repairs myself at this time I keep track of what hourly costs are in the construction field and increase my costs accordingly when it's a project that I can charge the renters extra for like holes in the wall, broken railings, busted windows, etc...
