US bullies UN over breastfeeding initiative

Sorry if I don't get too excited about this issue. There are far more important things in this world other than breastfeeding.
If this is what the UN thinks IS important then we are in a world of hurt with them and should just pull out of it and
save some denaro.

Are you really this stupid? This is a massively important issue affecting 2/3 of the world’s population.

Nestles, and other formula manufacturers are losing business in the west as women return to breast feeding babies, but Third World countries are virtually an untapped market for them. Added to which, it’s virtually unregulated. This is a multi-billion dollar per year business.

This is killing babies around the world in “shithole countries” for profit.

This is the government of Donald J. Trump.
Again, there are far more important issues for the UN to resolve than this.
Also, I really do think we should leave this dictator infested organization that seems
to always have their hands held out for the US dollar. Maybe if they weren't so corrupt
they wouldn't have the issues that they have.
Now, go pound sand, okay?

Yes, any issues involving women and children are irrelevant. Women and children have been hearing that for hundreds of years. Politics, business and wars are all that matters.
Let me make this as simple as possible for you.

This really shouldn’t be an issue. Much of the developIng world is too poor to afford formula, ending up diluting it too much causing malnutrition or worse lack of clean drinking water means the formula is mixed with dirty water causing serious illness.

No one is forcing anyone to buy baby formula or anything else for that matter

Except of course the fucking government, that is.

Oh shut the fuck up... that you are ignorant of what the formula countries are doing in these third world countries, or lack sufficient humanity to understand why it's wrong.... there's really no fucking point in talking to you.

Get back to me when you develop some humanity, you fucking slug.

What are they doing, advertising?

No one is being forced to buy baby formula.

What's so hard to understand about this statement

If you can't afford it then don't fucking buy it.

What are they doing, advertising?

No, they send women dressed as nurses into these poor villages, and those women tell these poor illiterate women that forumla is better for their babies. It isn't. But she was dressed like a nurse. She must know what she's talking about!

No one is being forced to buy baby formula.

No, they are being tricked into buying a product they don't need and can't really afford. As a result, they water down the formula to make it last longer, and the babies suffer malnutrition.

Fucking educate yourself on this issue, stupid.

Exactly.

And no one is forcing anything least of all WHO. All it is is providing accurate information but apparently some in the US think that is a bad thing and the only ones who should be allowed to do so are manufacturers.

And you guys in the civilized world believe a pamphlet will fix all that because a third world country mom don’t know any better?

Waste the money? The people in those countries know better then you sitting at your laptop being outraged because Rachael Madcow told you to be, when these people have been doing this right all along. This is a in issue and it just makes you all look stupid.

Who is talking about pamphlets?
These mothers are just as susceptible to deceptive advertising as mothers anywhere only there are fewer protections and sources to counter it in their countries.

What is actually wrong with providing information in country’s where infants fed on formula have many times the mortality of breastfed infants and manufacturers push formula as being better than breast milk?

That is really all this is.

Do they? Where do they get information from? When formula is extolled as modern, civilized and better for the baby by people pretending to be nurses?

Why do you oppose providing information?

If they had TV and 24 hour news cycles. This is a fake issue plain and simple.

Well, they know because they saw some other mother lose her kid because she gave her kid formula mixed with bad water. Most of those people can’t afford a bottle to feed with formula, and thinking a outback it, they likely don’t trust an organization who condoned slicing up a fetus and sucking it out of the womb with child rearing advice.

Maybe you should be reading more about it before pronouncing it fake, you clearly haven’t. Would it do any good to repost some of the articles that were posted in this thread? Or would it be a waste of time?

What is wrong with providing information?
