Venezuela: What Is Trump To Do??

Are you suggesting we engage in a war for oil?

I'm saying we can't just stand by and do nothing while Russia takes control of all that oil...in our back yard.

What is Russia doing? Nothing but talking is all I see. Are you stuck in the Cold War?

How is it that the US government can back a politician to run Venezuela, who wasn’t elected? I will tell you. The CIA has been working diligently to get Madura removed. They have been committing coups throughout the world for decades. If only the CIA could be terminated.

Yep.

If we could just stop with the foreign meddling, I might feel somewhat miffed about the alleged Russian meddling in U.S. elections, but it seems like payback is a bitch to me.

Exactly why should the U.S. get involved in Venezuela's internal affairs? .. :dunno:
Because Russia would try to get a foothold there...and ya know...OIL

And we have always had a hard on for any socialist country anywhere, but especially in the western hemisphere. When america blathers on about fweedumb, we mean out fweedumb to decide the governments and economies of other nations.
If you Communists had your way the US by now would resemble every fucking Socialist shithole country in the world. MOVE to one of them if you think they are so great.
In every Socialist country how do you know when a woman is having her period?
She'll be wearing only one sock!

Trump's buddy Putin is backing the "socialist" dictator Maduro that Trump has been verbally attacking for a while.

In fact they are reportedly sending "mercenaries" to back that corrupt POS.

Russian mercenaries reportedly in Venezuela to protect Maduro

Will Trump stand up to Putin here...in our own part of the world?

The Monroe Doctrine has been misused in the past to advance big business interests in Central and South America. Preventing a foreign government from getting involved in this way would be a different story and an appropriate use of the MD.

We live in interesting times folks

Maduro can't trust his own guards to protect his life. That shows what a thriving democracy he presides over

Collapse is inevitable, but strong arm tactics can keep him in power for years.

The right thing for the US to do is let him be deposed by his own people, but have an MEU/ARG and hospital ships ready to move in when a new government takes over and asks for help.

Not us along, but as a part of a South/Central American effort to bring order back once the fighting is over.

Russia isn't going to "take control" of fuck all in SA.
What's Russia going to do?
Send half a million troops to Venezuela? How?
Maduro is a fucking Putin hand puppet. Cuba is sending a few hundred soldiers to Venezuela.
Maduro is going to end up hanging by one foot in some city square.......along with his family.
Trump announced further sanctions on Venezuela yesterday. The UK has seized all of Maduro's money. Apart from the usual Socialist countries the rest of the world is against Maduro. His days are literally numbered.
He'll flee to Havana.

There's private jet ready to take the Maduro family to Cuba.
By next Friday he'll be living in luxury in Havana.

I don't think so. Maduro is worth something to Cuba because of the oil he controls.

No controlled oil, no worth.

Unless Maduro has a few billion stashed away somewhere.

I think we should supply arms to the opposition. How can they overthrow him when they have been disarmed?

I would be OK with that. The problem is they really need some Army units to switch over to bring heavy equipment and organization.

A mob can overthrow a government, but it is a much more bloody way to do things.

And how exactly is ANYTHING that goes on in Venezuela (outside of major genocide/starvation) ANY of America's business?

It's more our business than anything that goes on in Syria or Libya or Egypt.

As per almost always on international affairs...neocons are clueless and Dr. Paul is dead right.

I have a radical idea: stay the fuck out of it and let the nations of South America deal with it since they will be impacted the most by whatever occurs in that forsaken country.

Do you believe we should have followed that advice in 1941?
