As long as you let workers into your country, you have no way of forcing them to leave once they're inside your borders. This is where half your illegal immigration comes from - people who enter the country legally and don't leave.

If you let farm workers in, you've solved nothing. The only visa workers you should be letting in are those at the high end of the income scale because the nannies, gardeners, and field workers are the ones who have nothing to go back to.

First of all, we don't have "no way of forcing them to leave..". Half our country simply lacks the will, or gets greater pay back, from having them in the country.

A tracking and reporting system, E-Verify, and an aggressive enforcement of immigration law will solve the problem very quickly. But, sanctuary cities and liberals would rather see us overrun than lose the money generated.

Oh, by the way, less than 15% of immigrants are farm workers, but one half of all immigrant farm workers are illegal. We're not talking about gardeners, crop pickers, and nannies. We are talking about construction workers, roofers, cement layers, and masons. I know of illegal construction workers making $20-25/hour.

As for your farm workers, $12/hour is the average. Farmers are using illegals for a very simple reason - your son (or mine) is too lazy to get off his ass and get a job doing honest work. Instead, they will sit at home and let their parents, or their government, take care of them. The referenced article mentioned that one farmer had 300 workers - of which 2 were Americans.

I got an idea ---- if you are healthy, and want welfare, you have to work 30 hours a week in the fields. The government will pay to get you there, and pay to house you. Sounds like a win-win to me. Course, it will probably get those $160 sneakers dirty.
