What is the stupidest reason for being fired that you heard of?

I wasn't told to carry out the trash.. in fact I had put a note on top of it telling the co-worker that I wasn't his mother or his wife, I wouldn't empty his trash any more. I carried any trash I generated out with me every morning..

In the long run I wish that I had carried his trash out.. but I was trying to make a point and it cost me my job.

You were fired for an incident which proved you could not get along with your co-workers.

Next time, do what it takes to get along with people.

If that means you have to eat an occasional shit sandwich, well, eat that shit sandwich.

Dude you don't cause waves with a job like that. There was other ways to get even.

One of my past Bosses fired a co-worker because he didn't like what she was wearing.
Talk about a stupid excuse!
It wasn't a sexy outfit either, just a regular dress and he didn't like it.

While I support Right to Work, and still do, what is the stupidest reason you've heard of for being fired???

I was fired today from a job because I didn't carry out the trash a co-worker left in the bathroom.

To my thinking, that is almost the most chickenshit reason to fire someone..

What's your story. Can you beat that?

No, I was let go from the public library at age 15 or 16, because the library received a grant that required someone with lower family income. I loved that job, my first besides babysitting. My family was lower middle income but not poor, my father received military retirement plus worked in the DOC.

I was "Permanently Laid OFf" because I wasn't a Minority or female once. That was back in the bad old days of Affirmative Action in 1978 and quotas mattered and were applied.

I've never been fired but a close friend of mine fired a worker for being late 3 times in 1 week ... the workers final excuse was " I was late because I had to pull over and laugh at a bumper sticker I saw on the car in front of me"

I got fired once for suggesting that a young woman's password be blowjob. She was well-known for giving them out easily so it seemed like a good suggestion.

I hope you get unemployment, and yes, that is a sad excuse. Maybe a friend needed work, and the supervisor "found" a position. I had no problem with affirmative action; I filled in for the poorer replacement, wound up doing research for a real estate broker writing a series of articles on the Great Depression. Better pay, met him at the library.

Has anyone ever really been fired for being gay?

Have you?

At my old firm there was a paralegal who was openly gay and his partner was listed next to him on the employee contact list, just like the husbands and wives of the other employees.

And no one had a problem with that.

Message to gays: the world is not out to get you.

Mayor Who Fired Lesbian Police Chief Caught On Tape In Homophobic Tirade

Latta Mayor Earl Bullard fired Moore on Tuesday soon after she received seven reprimands, which alleged that she had failed to maintain order and questioned authority, among other offenses, according to a report by WBTW News 13. The reprimands were the first Moore ever received after more than 20 years on the job. What's more, members of the city council said Bullard, who just became mayor in December, broke with protocol by not giving Moore a verbal or written warning for any wrongdoing, or discussing the matter with the council before taking action.

“By all accounts, Chief Moore has served the people of Latta, S.C., well for over 20 years” said Human Rights Campaign spokesman Fred Sainz. “On the surface this looks a like clear-cut case of employment discrimination based on sexual orientation. Without explicit federal or state employment protections, a decorated police chief is left to fend for herself.”

Yes I am sure the far left press like Huffington post is reporting this story correctly. Might as well pull it from daily kos or raw story..

I fired the best man at my wedding twice at two different jobs. Lol. I got him a great job after I fired him the last time though.

How about for being gay? That's a pretty stupid reason...

Cute anecdote. I'm going to make a really wild guess this was after 1999.

I just love willfully historically ignorant people who say stupid shit like, "Discrimination? What discrimination? I see no discrimination!"

Gee, how did we get to the point where some dumbshit things gays have never been discriminated against, eh?

Naw.. no unenemployment... that was one of two full time jobs I had at the same time.

I once had a girlfriend come home and tell me she was fired that day. She said the reason was because I had called her too much at work.

I had called her once. Months prior.

That's probably the stupidest reason I ever heard. It was also the untruest reason.

I later found her severance paperwork. She had been fired for constantly miscounting money. This was a job at a bank.

Oh you were cranky, understandable.

I just got tired of coming in to a full trash can and decided that I would leave it for him to carry out. What I should have done was put it in the back of my truck, then on turn over day, put it back in the trash can for him to carry out.

I would use one or two Wal*Mart bags to put all my trash into, and I would carry those out with me in the morning.. I never put trash in the trash can. I actually was going to put it in the back of my truck tonight and not have one in the bathroom at all. Force them to carry out their trash.

I know someone who was fired because spammers sent spam with ... her ... name on it offering people Viagra and her employer thought she had actually sent it and fired her

The best reason I ever heard for firing someone was the head of an IT database group who told a job applicant, "I'm Iranian and we don't believe in women working, but we have an excellent HR department and I can assure you they will protect your rights."

Yes, people really have been fired for being gay (and still are) the military did it up until a couple years ago.

I was denied a job because I am gay, fired no.

So you were told because you are "gay" you can not be hired?

I call BS on that one.

Oh, they never said it...but that WAS the reason.

I was the top candidate. All I had to do was go though their BI and I was starting within a week. I had just retired with a TS clearance and the only change in my "background" was my legal domestic partnership...they wouldn't even rerun my calls...

Or take the trash, and make all supervisors saw you were the only one doing so.
