But welfare is?Why do you believe that? Employment is at the will of either party, not just the employer.Only for a while; unemployment compensation engenders a positive multiplier effect; and, higher paid labor pays more in Taxes, and creates more in Demand. The general fund can't fund what we have without going deeper and deeper into bigger deficits.
Unemployment compensation is meant to help people who lost their job through no fault of their own. If they quit or were fired for cause, they cannot draw unemployment.
Employment is at-will, not for-cause in Any at-will employment State. EDD must prove a for-cause employment relationship, to deny or disparage benefits.
The simple fact is, if you quit your job they will not pay you unemployment compensation. And that is how it should be. If you need a paycheck, keep working. And if you are fired for a good reason, you cannot collect either. That is as it should be. The employer sets basic rules and you follow them to get paid. If you need a paycheck, don't willfully sabotage your job.
True. But if you choose to be unemployed, it is not my responsibility to pay you.
Unemployment compensation is more cost effective at providing for the general welfare.

If you intentionally walk away from your job, you don’t get compensation. Why should you? If you want to be paid, keep working. Forget that nonsense “Work is for fools and horses”.
It is about solving for simple poverty. Yes, it is going to happen.it could be, if Labor had fifteen dollars an hour minimum wage and unemployment compensation for simply being unemployed.2 blocks west of the Exxon at MLK and N 14 th in Gary Indiana.STUNNING AREA !
Increasing minimum wage is an argument to have.
Quitting a job and expecting to be paid by tax payers is not. Your expectation of getting paid by workers when you are unwilling to work for is not going to happen. Buck up, buttercup.
How would a fifteen dollar an hour minimum wage and unemployment compensation for simply being unemployed, be worse than our current form of capitalism? It would totally suck.
Socialism is for losers.

Socialism is the Big Lie of the twentieth century. While it promised prosperity, equality, and security, it delivered poverty, misery, and tyranny. Equality was achieved only in the sense that everyone was equal in his or her misery.
In the same way that a Ponzi scheme or chain letter initially succeeds but eventually collapses, socialism may show early signs of success. But any accomplishments quickly fade as the fundamental deficiencies of central planning emerge. It is the initial illusion of success that gives government intervention its pernicious, seductive appeal. In the long run, socialism has always proven to be a formula for tyranny and misery.
A pyramid scheme is ultimately unsustainable because it is based on faulty principles. Likewise, collectivism is unsustainable in the long run because it is a flawed theory. Socialism does not work because it is not consistent with fundamental principles of human behavior. The failure of socialism in countries around the world can be traced to one critical defect: it is a system that ignores incentives.
All of that happens because of the legal concept concerning employment at will.Equal protection of the law. Employment is at the will of either party, not just the employer. But welfare is?Why do you believe that? Employment is at the will of either party, not just the employer.

I have no problem with the equal protection under the law.
You provide services for your employer at will, and they provide pay for those services at will. If you cease to provide those services, you cease to be paid. Your employer loses your services. And you lose your paycheck. That is equal protection.
You should not be paid simply because you choose to walk away from a job because you want to stay home and squander tax payer money.
But, should you and any others want the same deal, there are numerous military bases that are no longer in use. You can live in the barracks and eat what is prepared for you while you do various community service related jobs. No money, per se, but you will receive shelter and sustenance for your services.
Yes, it is. This is a left wing platform. It is going to happen, regardless of legislative, slackery. It is about solving for simple poverty. No, it is not going to happen. More and more gov't aid is about job training and helping people find jobs. You want to quit yours and leech off the tax payers. If you are able to work you will work for your pay.

Why are you advocating more socialism on a national basis?

The slackery is on the part of people like you who want money given to them by the gov't. And that money is taken, by force, from people who earn it.
The answer will be a resounding No. Why should others works while you do nothing and get the same benefits? Why do you deserve a part of the paychecks of those who earn their money.
People will accept that their taxes go to help those who are unable to work. But they will not accept that their taxes will go to pay people who quit their jobs to sit at home. If you want money, get a job and earn it.
