When a Cashier Said She Should’ve Had an Abortion, This Mom Had an Awesome Response

Pity that ultrasound can't reveal whether an unborn might grow up to be a liberal. That alone would cause thousands of us conservatives to consider changing our thinking about offering free (taxpayer funded) abortions!

How much does that come to, genius?

One can raise 12-13 non birth defect kids for the price of one birth defect kid.
Bullshit.

Down syndrome: The medical costs for a child with Down syndrome were 12 to 13 times higher than a child without Down syndrome.

Birth Defects are Costly Features CDC

From the study your link cites:

"Despite recognized demands on the health care system, few studies have reported the health costs for children with this condition. One study from the U.S. reported the health care costs for children with Down syndrome was up to 13 times higher than for children without Down syndrome9. However costs were reported only for children who were members of a health insurance organisation, which may represent a more highly serviced group.

We conclude that health care costs for children and young adults with Down syndrome are highest in the first years of life, and cost predictors include diagnosis of heart disease and level of independent functioning. An important finding is that the demands on health services decline significantly with age to approach population levels during adolescence, indicating the general level of good health within this group."

Direct health care costs of children and adolescents with Down syndrome

Funny how you leave things like that out.

Who's funding the additional healthcare and education costs for the Downs kid?

I have met parents who actually do that themselves! I do realize that some liberals won't get that, but it's true. Not everyone runs to nanny government. Of course, these days liberals get bent out of shape if some people use their insurance more and don't appreciate the fact that people paid for their own plans and chose ones that were best suited to their needs. Liberals don't like some people getting health care, like old people or maybe even babies with defects that 'shouldn't have been born.'

Liberals keep saying we should just pay for abortions since it will cost us more to pay for other peoples' children. Funny how that works. Either way, liberals want us to be responsible for the choices that women make while not expecting women to practice responsible behavior.

Parenthood is also a choice and it's cruel for anyone to criticize that. Married stay at home moms have been criticized a lot by liberals over the years.

The flaw of the pro-abortion argument, in one encounter:

A mommy blogger only identified as Sherry wrote on her blog, Hand Me Downs, about her encounter with a cashier over her son, who has Down syndrome.

Sherry started her post by writing about her two-year old son, Gabe, who acts like, well, most two-year olds. He’s curious, throws tantrums, and loves music. Sometimes, she even forgets that her son has Down syndrome.

Then she went to the store:

Like the cashier that gave me sad eyes and spit poison in a whisper,

“I bet you wish you had known before he came out. You know they have a test for that now…”

Shock, horror, hurt and fury coursed through my body. I considered jerking her over the register and beating her senseless. I looked her up and down, I could take her….

But instead of lashing out at the cashier, she did this:

Instead I used whit (sic): I smiled a crazy lady smile “I know right?! It’s so much harder to get rid of them once they come out. Believe ME I’ve tried…” Jackpot! Her mouth dropped open and she stared at me in shock.

Nice sweet apocryphal story. I'll go along with everyone else and cede to this blogger her right to tell an imaginative heart warming tale. It's all in a good cause after all.

Shut your chili hole.

I leaned over the register and whispered to her,

“What you’re saying is that it’s okay for me to kill him while he’s inside, but not outside? In my book there isn’t a difference. For the record, we knew EVERYTHING about him during my pregnancy. He is our son now and he was our son then. There is no way in hell that I would let any harm come to either of my children. Including during the time that they’re so ridiculously considered disposable.”

Whether a person is tall or short, black or white, and does or doesn’t have a disability, their life is precious. Destroying that life before it begins would deny the world a chance to see incredible kids like Gabe live up to their fullest potential.
C&P the article, please.

I don't go to "external redirect" pages.

I did. Full article CP'd right there for your reading pleasure.
I just see a link to click on, and get a warning from USMB saying it will redirect me to some place that they have no control over.

I did that once, and got a blackscreen and had to restore the computer to factory settings to get back on.

It must be a new USMB security measure, I just started getting that re-direct warning today. Annoying and a waste of time. The external sites are, like the vast majority of sites, in all probability safe. There doesn't seem to be any real screening to justify warnings. There's nothing you can do but ignore them

Who's funding the additional healthcare and education costs for the Downs kid?

His mother and father will, genius. He won't need an education for oh, another 2 or 3 years.

You really are a jackass, you know that?

The cost of raising a Down Syndrome child is 12-13 times higher than a child without birth defects. Do the parents have the money to pay for that, or are they going on the taxpayers dime?

What did your parents do about you ? Did they pay all that ?

His parents are still paying for him.

I would have looked shocked at her too. Then I would have said what do you mean you tried? Did you try to suicide him? Or did you just try to pass your problem off on someone else and no one would take him? I think DCS needs a heads up.

Any evidence this story is true?

The same people that are funding moron care for dumbasses like you.

Keep in mind that I'm a God fearing conservative that believes in the sanctity of life.....but my tax monies shouldn't have to pay for it!!!!!!!

Who Would Jesus Starve?
The able bodied who will not work.

Note, he sent the Apostles out with direct instructions to earn their keep, not to be like parasites.

How many able bodied people who will not work do we have in this country? That question requires a number for an answer.
No, the question only requires getting out of the basement and looking around the real world.

You count them.

USMB nutters love to imagine that people who produce and earn more than they do live in basements.

As a supposed fiscal conservative.....you ought to have a better handle on how many total teat suckers we have in this nation. After all, eliminating them via tough love forms the basis of your world view. You really should know your stuff a little better.

That's because you're a piece of shit.
No that's because I call a piece of shit in an unconfirmed blog post on the internets a piece of shit. In the end the question remains. How had she tried to get rid of him? If you don't want attention don't say stupid shit on the internets.

You really are a jackass, you know that?

But the point is, when he DOES need an education, the schools will be paying far more than him than his parents will be paying in taxes.

So the rest of us will be paying for the fact that she kept having babies after her biological clock ran down and she doesn't believe in abortion.

And what happens when little Corky gets out into the world and no one will hire him? Yup, he's going to be collecting disability his whole life.

Teenagers like the OP really have no business meddling in other people's business. Neither does that woman.

Interesting you should say that. You want government out of your life, but beg it to ensure your reproductive rights.

Oh well, only Democrats expect to have things both ways.

That's the most retarded thing you said yet. And I know that's an accomplishment because you say lots of stupid stuff, Runs With Scissors.

We don't want government to "ensuring" anything. We just don't want you religious nuts trying to tell us what we can do.
