When the Boss Says, 'Don't Tell Your Coworkers How Much You Get Paid'

It worked in the past, I'm sorry if that upsets you, but other countries are realizing how fucked up the world is.
If it didn't last that long it cannot be said to have worked, between infighting and external pressures all the social experiments in socialism broke down because people do not naturally live that way. The experiments only worked all because they appealed to the tribal nature of mankind rather than any kind of wise consensus on the part of the people.
Do you realize why they failed? VIOLENCE AGAINST THEM. The paris commune? Mass violence. Ukraine Free areas? Bolsheviks. The spain anarchists? More bloodshed. Jesus, are you an idiot?
It's true that no group attempting socialism has ever been allowed to exist in peace but this too is a hard fact of life on Earth you must accept. Socialism will never be allowed to flourish as long as there are still plutocrats and warhawks in the world. The power elite are like the Hydra, you cannot cut off enough heads to kill the beast of authoritarian rule.
We need international revolution and adequate protection for anarchist/socialist groups that form.
Another hard fact: Revolutionaries usually become the very thing they fought against and are lousy leaders in the absence of a struggle. It's why many of the counties founded on revolution still act as if the struggle continues. They have lots and lots of soldiers to keep the masses in line and sacrificing for the state that supposedly is populist but is really just a dictatorship.

Great post.

Our native Americans ran from oppressive groups to find a land for the free. It just so happens they used tyranny on the Indians to fight the tyranny they were running from. Even Hitler noted his thought process was based on what American-Europeans did to the Native Americans.

he would be wrong. most of the Indians died out because od disease, (You can hardly blame the Europeans for that), and the Indians were just a brutal if not more as the Europeans. It was a Machiavellian world with Machiavellian rules. When you argue such a point it hurts you to take sides.

I know right. That cowboys vs. Indians thing we played as kids was just for fun. The Indian genocide is right in your face if you want to learn. If ignorance is bliss then welcome to America.

Indians flourished until we got here then got "disease". RANDOM.

Indeed it is. But once you actually read about it you find that the story is less black and white than you would imagine. There were quite a few native tribes that tried to eradicate colonists. Some were successful. Why don't we speak of them? because they were the ultimate losers? Once again, "Machiavellian" is the perfect term for what you speak of. Quit reading Howard Zinn. That's the first rule to learning real history.

^Funny thing about the stories we read is they were written by man. Sometimes the stories were wrong. When the internet came out the less popular stories got shared and people got educated. Well, some of them

I have a book from 1900 that says the US Government owns all the land. Do you suppose the Indians just gave up their land? Or have you ever had a PERSONAL thought?

Then there are people like me who were formally educated in the study of history who know damn well that academic journals and books written by apolitical historians are to be preferred over some random garbage on the internet.

Depends on the topic and if you are a BIAS BRAIN. You have proven that you don't know about Indian history. YOu probably don't know about the air rifle used by Lewis and Clark to scare the Indians do you? You think hundreds of thousand of flourishing Indians just got sick and died once we got here? Must have been that Ebola huh.

I timed myself. It took 1.5 seconds to do homework for you. The question is, what stopped you?

No, Millions of Native Americans died after first contact with the Europeans. Most before they ever saw a European because the disease moved so quickly. This is not controversial history. It's historical fact. But there is something that I want you to understand. You cannot in all honesty tell me that I "don't know about Indian history" while assuming only "hundreds of thousands" died due to European born diseases. It was millions. Lets get that straight! The number one reason for Native depopulation was European born disease. NO HISTORIAN REFUTES THIS!!!

Quote away. But once again I will quote you of saying "hundreds of thousands."

"Using an estimate of approximately 37 million people in 1492 (including 6 million in the Aztec Empire, 8 million in the Mayan States, 11 million in what is now Brazil, and 12 million in the Inca Empire), the lowest estimates give a death toll due from disease of 90% by the end of the 17th century (nine million people in 1650)."
Population history of indigenous peoples of the Americas - Wikipedia the free encyclopedia

"After first contacts with Europeans and Africans, some believe that the death of 90–95% of the native population of the New World was caused by Old World diseases"

History of smallpox - Wikipedia the free encyclopedia

"In 1633 in Plymouth, Massachusetts, the Native Americans were struck by the virus. As it had done elsewhere, the virus wiped out entire population groups of Native Americans. It reached Mohawks in 1634,[46] the Lake Ontario area in 1636, and the lands of the Iroquois by 1679. During and after Pontiac's War smallpox killed between 400,000-500,000 (possibly up to 1.5 million) Native Americans."

"During the 1770s, smallpox killed at least 30% of the West Coast Native Americans.[51][52] The smallpox epidemic of 1780–1782 brought devastation and drastic depopulation among the Plains Indians.[53] This epidemic is a classic instance of European immunity and non-European vulnerability. It is probable that the Indians contracted the disease from the ‘Snake Indians’ on the Mississippi"

"Smallpox attacked whole tribes and left few survivors. E. E. Rich described the epidemic by saying that “Families lay unburied in their tents while the few survivors fled, to spread the disease.”[55] After reading Tomison’s journals, Houston and Houston calculated that, of the Indians who traded at the Hudson and Cumberland houses, 95% died of smallpox"

I love to watch you repeat but what is funny is you will think about it later and realize how stupid you sound. Have a good evening :)

The American "Polished History" is well known. You are not smart by repeating it. You are just a parrot. The very thing Politicians thrive on.

Whhhhaaaa????? No rebuttal? No snappy remark? No refutation based on historical evidence? Damn those crickets are getting loud!

I'm not polishing anything. Please point to anywhere in this thread where I "polished" something.
