Why is hush money illegal?

Isn’t it just payment for a contract of non-disclosure?

I have received such a payment myself. I was wronged by an employer, and they - without admitting guilt - offered me a nice chunk of change to never reveal it publicly. It was a legal contract.
It is legal. Why do you ask? Why do think it's not legal?

QUOTE.... I agree that this isn’t about politics. It’s about patriotism and honoring the oath of office. It’s about the rule of law. We cannot allow Trump and the Republicans who support him to get away with violating the law.
Presidents are supposed to be held to higher standards. Presidents must be held accountable for their actions. If we the people can’t hold presidents accountable for their actions, then we are not a democratic republic. I fear that the norms that once held this country together are damaged beyond repair.
(Hush money is not illegal but how it was paid is illegal)
Cohen was charged with campaign finance violations (among other crimes), pleaded guilty,
First was “causing an unlawful corporate contribution” to a federal campaign. Prosecutors alleged that Cohen “caused” AMI’s $150,000 payment to Karen McDougal, and that that violated the law because it was effectively a campaign contribution for Trump, in excess of the legal limit on what a corporation like AMI is permitted to give to a campaign.

Second was that Cohen made an “excessive campaign contribution” himself, by paying $130,000 to Stormy Daniels. This, too, was effectively a campaign contribution for Trump above what Cohen was permitted to give, prosecutors said.

No problem. One of your fellow leftists suggested that I, an anonymous poster, was in violation of my NDA by revealing I had one against an anonymous company.
I meant what is the problem with hush money? Why do you think it may be illegal.

I'm not a leftist but the way.

Call it "hush money" and it sounds sinister. Accept campaign donations from Communist spies or a bit-coin scam artist and it's business as usual.

They weren’t hush payments. They were payments for my signing of non-disclosure contract. Perfectly legal.

The difference is that you had a contract stating that you would receive a certain amount in exchange for not disclosing whatever your employer didn't want disclosed. It wasn't considered hush money because there was a contract that was readily available to see what it was for (the non disclosure).

Trump had no such contract with Ms. Daniels, and that is why it is considered "hush money" (no record of it readily available), and that is considered illegal when it comes to campaign finances.

IKR? There are thousands of companies that have paid for a NDA for hundreds of thousands of people. No big secret.
I'd consult my attorney (which you don't have) before I repeated that I had an NDA (which you don't have) if I were you. Free advice to someone who clearly is lying about having an NDA.

And also there is that whole thing about when you give money to a politician to run for office, you don't imagine that they are going to use it to pay off porn stars.

C'mon, I still have no idea what Trump did is illegal. You need to have a paper trail showing this "Trump gave 130,000 to Cohen with clear instruction that told Cohen gave the $ to Daniels. In fact, you need to prove that Trump believed Daniels's story would let him unelected.

BTW, I just wonder who did you vote for the POTUS. Did you vote for Biden and Hillary?

Don’t be ridiculous. Soros‘ religion is irrelevant.

P.S. I’m Jewish.

So what if you're Jewish? There were lots of Jewish people who turned over or squealed on their fellow Jews to the Nazis during WWII. What you are or aren't has little to do with it, as your actions are what you are being held to account for.

How did he "cause" a campign contribution?

No it's not. Had the porn star hooker story been told to the public a week before the election Trumps chances of becoming president would have dwindled.

You really should just shut the fuck up.

In the real-world, NDA and Non-Competes are very common.

If a construction worker goes into (for example) a Lab or a software company, they have to sign an NDA stating that they will never discuss what they saw.
These places have trade secrets that they don't want made public knowledge.

It's called "hush money" because people in the media are all leftwingers, and that's the only reason. "hush money" is not a legal term, jackass.
