Why is Socialism so popular all of a sudden

corporate welfare and trade wars are not Capitalism, either. it says so, on the charts.
I don't know what charts you are looking at, but I agree that corporate welfare and trade wars are not capitalism.

I also believe that instead of trade wars, we should boycott and embargo those who levy tariffs on U. S. goods. China would collapse without the U.S. so they should go first.
i believe more, in Global Trade over Global War.

Love it or hate it, is it not peculiar an idea that has been so taboo in our society is now mainstream, what happened? Why is socialism suddenly so popular?
It's just as popular as it has always been since the 1960's, it just took liberals 50 years to admit Americans were right about them being socialists, now all we have to do is get them to see they are communists as well.

Omg I never thought the forum folk would be so ignorant and gullible to believe socialism is popular here. How dog dumb are you?

Albert Einstien, Eugene Debs, Bertrand Russell, MLK, Rosa Luxembourg, they're all democratic socialists

socialism has always been popular

Socialism is not all that popular. What is the op basing this assumption on?

Socialism isn't government providing community services, dingleberry. By such a specious definition, all of government is socialism.

The debate over socialism vs free market capitalism is about who should hold economic power in society - the people, or the government.

it was; providing for the general welfare is in our Constitution.
1. The "general welfare" not a specific power to install a socialist economy. In fact, it prohibits passing laws that impair the obligations of contracts, which would make a socialist economy impossible.

2. You didn't answer the question.

Other than being unconstitutional (like that ever stops communists), why is the U.S. a capitalist economy if socialism is so fucking great?

Socialism is a range of economic and social systems. If means of production is publicly owned then it can be considered socialism. If a community service is publicly owned, then it falls in this category.
More importantly though, is that worker-owned enterprise also falls under socialism.

We have Socialism, limited by our Constitution.

Where is so of this so called socialism in america? What a croc
According to the apologists, we've already got socialism (fireman and stuff). So, if they want to nationalize major industries, we'll just have to lump it. No fair complaining.

Crazy Bernie was for nationalizing the banks in his younger days. not anymore. socialists in america are pretty lame. venezuela is the REAL socialism

Other countries nationalize their banks when needed. Like Iceland during the 2008 crisis and they even put some of the bankers in jail. Obama, the so called liberal, bailed out the banks and no bankers went to jail. I believe trump hired some of them to work in his administration. Looks to me like this is socialism, bailing out those that fail with government money. So subsidizing and bailing out banks and corporations... good socialism. Money to help the little guy like bernie wants to do? Bad socialism.
