Trump didn't have to prove anything. The prosecution proved he had sex with Stormy Daniels beyond a reasonable doubt. And based on that, made it a crime to falsify business records to hide that fact

It's no different than the defense doesn't have to prove the defendant wasn't at the scene of the crime. But proving he wasn't at the crime, proves he couldn't have committed the crime.
