Authorities said Wednesday that the AR-15 semiautomatic rifle that the gunman used inside the Oregon mall jammed after he fatally shot two people, perhaps preventing more deaths in the midday shooting rampage.

Police identified the suspect as Jacob Tyler Roberts, 22, and said he armed himself with a rifle and had several fully loaded magazines. The gunman appears to have died from a self-inflicted gunshot, authorities said. It is unclear how many rounds he was able to fire.

Clackamas County Sheriff Craig Roberts said the rifle jammed during the attack, but he managed to get it working again. Police, however, flooded the scene and the shopping center was credited for employing a rapid lockdown.

He was shooting unimpeded all the way up until his rifle jammed. Then he ran back into Macy's. No one was pinning him down.

I've spoken to an acquaintance who was there just a few feet from the shooter, and seen an interview with the armed civilian you spoke of.

Apparently then, he thinks the Nazis were good people to only arm people they liked and disarm those who they didn't (or keep them disarmed). It was a clever and subtle endorsement of the Nazi regime. Not surprising though, since that is the goal of both the Democratic and Republican Leadership, Corporate-Fascist Domination. He clearly states and there's camera evidence to support it. The gun man realized the game was up, that the defender had the gun on him, and he could no longer continue his massacre unchecked. By then, everyone else had run away. At that point, he shot himself. So yes, he was theoretically pinned down. He knew it and killed himself.
