Bain Capital closing Illinois Plant

Jaraxle, did you know that the federal government bought a huge number of K-cars? All the DEA and ATF cars were Kcars, as were all lower-level federal government cars. A number of states and counties also bought the cars.

October Surprise!

Oh no wait... that's not a surprise.

Speaking of telling horseshit stories, dude you are sniffing it.
Iaccocca kept Chrysler from going out of business. The company was building shitty unreliable vehicles and people hated them. That idiotic K-Car line almost destroyed the company.
I am no fan of golden parachutes or people who get to be fired and it actually enriches them. However, credit must be given where credit is due.
Also, as a lib and union thug, you have no room to talk when it comes to government handouts. But for a HUGE handout to GM, that company would have gone bankrupt( IMO should have anyway) but no, Obama was in no way ever going to let an opportunity to pay back his union constituency. So he took OUR money and bailed out GM...NO different with the Chrysler story.
So you can take your righteous indignation and cram it.

No, Iacocca didn't keep Chrysler from going out of business.

Jimmy Carter did by bailing it out.

So you got that wrong to start with. Without the government bailout, Iacocca would have been in charge of liquidating assets, and not getting high on the smell of his own farts.

What Obama did was say, "Let's take care of the people who work for GM before taking care of the investors who knew they were taking a risk when they took it."

Good for him.

Bullshit....Iacocca lobbied for those loans which were paid back with interest ahead of time

Your complaining about what Bain has done?
How about what Obama's EPA is doing with our Coal industry?
China is getting richer from their coal production, while Obama's EPA is shutting our industry down.
It's much more harmful than what Bain has ever done.
EPA is shutting down our coal mines and our power plants and our Electric bills are going to be very expensive. This affects thousands of jobs and millions in heating and lighting in our homes.
This is what should make you sick to your stomach.

Correct. Unlike GM..Paid back the loans ahead of schedule...
Once again. The OP trashed Iaccocca for leaving Chrysler with a golden parachute. The OP ignored the accomplishments of Iaccocca.
Look, I have no idea why people are so fearful or indignant when it comes to business.
If not for business and industry, we'd be Liechtenstein.
Business puts people to work. Everybody's happy. Where's the problem?

Because if you don't have reasonable protections, what you get is Mexico...

Some people get to work, but the country is polluted and full of garbage and everyone lives in filth.

Kind of what this country was before we had a labor movement.

Fuck Iacocca and every other "master of the universe" who thinks their farts don't stink.

As I said before, I recently had to drive a person from China around to visit vendors, and she was absolutely amazed that Chicago had clean skies and clean water, being a big city like it was.

Do you REALLY want us to be more like China, using the Cuttting Edge Energy of the 19th Century?

Bullshit....Iacocca lobbied for those loans which were paid back with interest ahead of time

Loans the government didn't have to give him.

Because no bank was about to.

Same with GM. The government gave them loans because the banks wouldn't at the time.

So when are they supposed to be paid back again? GM is not doing well no mater what they say. They are still in financial trouble

I'm sure they aren't. Kind of hard when you've eliminated the middle class who buys cars...

You imply middle income citizens cannot exist without taking from richer Americans. That is not the case. We had no income tax at all for nearly 150 years and during that time, more poor became middle class and more middle class became rich than at any point in the history of the world. Progressive meddling hasn't helped, it's hurt...everyone of every income strata.

Our coal is cleaner than anywhere else in the world.
2 coal plants have shut down just recently in Chicago and you just said that you have clean skies and clean water there.
Why do you want many elderly and poor freezing and dieing in the winter? Thousands are losing their jobs and government continues to lose revenue because of this policy.
We are working at better energy but it also has to be cheap. We can then stop our coal when we reach that technology. It's being forced on us right now before we find cheaper alternatives.
In the meantime China is getting richer while we become poorer.

I'm saying the middle class cannot exist as long as the tidal gravity in our society is towards the rich accumulating more and more of the wealth.

Before 1913, we didn't have much of a "middle class". we had the very rich and the very poor and not a lot in between.

This is how most working people lived back then.

Well, thanks for making my point. First, you talk of wealth as though it's a fixed pie from which we all must draw. That's bullshit. Wealth can be created or destroyed. Secondly, the disparity between rich and poor is GREATER today than in 1013, despite 100 years of progressive socialism.

You idiot, people came and still come here for capitalism and liberty, a chance to succeed, not be stuck dependent on some stupid government handout or under the umbrella of some union thug

Thomas Peterffy grew up in socialist Hungary. Despite the fact that he could not speak English when he immigrated to the United States in 1956, Thomas fulfilled the American dream. With hard work and dedication, he started a business that today employs thousands of people. In the 1970s, Thomas bought a seat on the American Stock Exchange. He played a key role in developing the electronic trading of securities and is the founder of Interactive Brokers, an online discount brokerage firm with offices all over the world

Assuming you meant 1913 and not 1013, not really. The poor were really damned dirt poor back then.

The GOP hasn't managed to push us back THAT far yet, though not for a lack of trying.

Actually, people came here during the great immigration wave to get cheap jobs, and most of them were exploited like hell... until the Unions came along.

You probably need to learn some history, dumbass.

I don't need your idiot history, unions are now a drag on the country especially public sector unions which shouldn't even exist maybe you should learn a little more instead of spewing your brainwashed liberal talking points
