Democrats didn't do that Mac. But that is why your calling yourself looking at both sides goes wrong. For example, why are some Hispanics turning to the republican party despite its overt dislike for hispanics? Because Republicans called almost anything democrats did socialist and Hispanics from dictatorships in South America and Cuba began getting scared. It is the same thing they're trying to do with blacks by talking about the democratic party of the 1860's. Now if the RNC doesn't tell Texas to remove that from their platform or their candidates won't get national support, then any black, brown, red, or yellow person who still supports the republican party is an idiot. It has been republicans who have weaponized identity and it began in the 1960's.The Democrats made a huge, huge, huge error in relying on racial and sexual "identity" as a political strategy.
And it all officially went off the rails when they weaponized it -- changing from advocacy & reason to punishment & intimidation.
And all along, they assumed blacks and browns were pretty much the same, and easily pandered to and maintained. Nope.
Wrong. Texas proposed this at their convention this weekend. Leftist tripe my ass. Left sources have been the most accurate.Am I reading that right? IM2 is trying to make hay out a 10 year old article from a source that can only be described as leftist tripe?
Someone is desperate…
So why use a 10 year old article? I think you’re stretchiing….Wrong. Texas proposed this at their convention this weekend. Leftist tripe my ass. Left sources have been the most accurate.

No it's not.The 1965 Voting Rights Act is a redundant, extraconstitutional relic.
They really haven't but you racists like to pretend they have. Nigerians are black. And the H1B Visa isn't given to American blacks. But why have Mexicans, Asians, Indians and Nigerians all blown right by you?
Of course Democrats did that. Proudly. Aggressively. Consistently.Democrats didn't do that Mac. But that is why your calling yourself looking at both sides goes wrong. Denying the obvious makes you obviously stupid. Every statistic that monitors US ethnic groups says youre wrong. They really haven't but you racists like to pretend they have. Nigerians are black. And the H1B Visa isn't given to American blacks.
In the context of the conversation, whites are 60-70% of the population. It doesn't really matter whether they are killing themselves in the streets or not, because of the massive advantage they currently have in elections. Blacks are what, under 20%?Whites are killing each other on the streets. So how about you concern yourself with stopping that.
And it all officially went off the rails when they weaponized it -- changing from advocacy & reason to punishment & intimidation.
you realize that was from 2012? They were right to want change, in fact in 2013 the SCOTUS agreed with them, and found the provision requiring certain states to get pre-approval was illegal.Alan West is a member of the Texas Republican party. The Texas Republican party platform calls for the repeal of the 1965 Voting Rights Act. Yet when someone black here says that Republicans want to take us back to Jim Crow, the right wingers start talking crazy.

Texas: State Republican Party Platform Calls For Repeal Of Voting Rights Act Of 1965 | Huffington Post
The Texas Republican Party has released its official platform for 2012, and the repeal of the landmark Voting Rights Act of 1965 is one of its central planks. "We urge that the Voter Rights Act of 1965 codified and updated in 1973 be repealed and not reauthorized," the platform reads. Under a...thevotingnews.com
The Republican party of today continues the fine legacy of lying to blacks that started in 1877.
Incorrect. Being against illegal border crossings is not anti-hispanic,. The vast majority of hispanics are intelligent enough to realize that, regardless of the propaganda campaign that you're participating in.Hispanics turning to the republican party despite its overt dislike for hispanics?
Scared of what? Republicans in another country? Lol.Because Republicans called almost anything democrats did socialist and Hispanics from dictatorships in South America and Cuba began getting scared.
Why would Texans need national support? Is California concerned about support from the rest of the nation when it passes stupid laws?It is the same thing they're trying to do with blacks by talking about the democratic party of the 1860's. why dont you support equal suffersge for all citizens of voting age?
No mac they didn't. But every time Republicans pulled a racist stunt and got called on it, they whine about the left playing identity politics. You are an example of someone who heard something repeated over and over and believe it. If people are going republican its because they have fallen for some falsehoods and the democratic party has not employed the tactics necessary to stomp out what Republicans are doing. The republicans are playing to white grievance and have done so since the civil rights act was passed. That's identity politics Mac but they have you telling me how democrats are the ones playing such politics..Of course Democrats did that. Proudly. Aggressively. Consistently.
And yes, the fact that blacks and browns who are moving towards a party inhabited by many who don't care much for them should tell us something.
It's telling us that the Democratic party has been focusing on the wrong things for too long, taking certain important groups for granted, creating animosities that are now blowing up in their face.
You can dismiss that, sure. But it's happening.
My opinions are based on my own personal experiences and my own observations. I'm also quite aware that part of the problem is the fact that right wing media has amplified it for their audience. Both facts can exist simultaneously. The Left has made itself an easy target for right wing media. No mac they didn't. But every time Republicans pulled a racist stunt and got called on it, they whine about the left playing identity politics. You are an example of someone who heard something repeated over and over and believe it. And mac, the large majority of blacks and browns are democrats still. The republican party brags when it gets 15 percent of black support in a poll and you're here telling me how things are biting democrats. There is no other situation where 85 percent of the people oppose something and it's considered an advantage. A guy who thinks like you was bragging to me one time because he saw a Rassmussen poll with 30 percent black support of republicans. He boasted about how blacks are running to the republican party and the democratic party was dying. He said that while 70 percent of the blacks in that poll could not stand the Republican party.
So don't believe the hype.
