The Democrats made a huge, huge, huge error in relying on racial and sexual "identity" as a political strategy.

And it all officially went off the rails when they weaponized it -- changing from advocacy & reason to punishment & intimidation.

And all along, they assumed blacks and browns were pretty much the same, and easily pandered to and maintained. Nope.

For example, why are some Hispanics turning to the republican party despite its overt dislike for hispanics? Because Republicans called almost anything democrats did socialist and Hispanics from dictatorships in South America and Cuba began getting scared. It is the same thing they're trying to do with blacks by talking about the democratic party of the 1860's. Now if the RNC doesn't tell Texas to remove that from their platform or their candidates won't get national support, then any black, brown, red, or yellow person who still supports the republican party is an idiot. It has been republicans who have weaponized identity and it began in the 1960's.

You are an example of someone who heard something repeated over and over and believe it. If people are going republican its because they have fallen for some falsehoods and the democratic party has not employed the tactics necessary to stomp out what Republicans are doing. The republicans are playing to white grievance and have done so since the civil rights act was passed. That's identity politics Mac but they have you telling me how democrats are the ones playing such politics..

There is no other situation where 85 percent of the people oppose something and it's considered an advantage. My opinions are based on my own personal experiences and my own observations. I'm also quite aware that part of the problem is the fact that right wing media has amplified it for their audience. Both facts can exist simultaneously. The Left has made itself an easy target for right wing media.

I agree fully with Van Jones, James Carville and Bill Maher. The Democrats have shot themselves in the foot with their PC and Identity Politics, and now they're paying the price. I am well aware that a majority of the Left will continue to dismiss that idea and absolutely refuse to look in the mirror.
