Boehner Gives In

The GOP was fighting for LESS debt and the dems for more!!! How can the GOP lose that battle?

All Boehner had to say over and over was - NO MORE DEBT NO MORE DEBT NO MORE DEBT

The House needs a new speaker and i say Teddy Baby.

no, he needs to stay, he managed it as best he could, he had a losing hand form the git go, he gave in to his fractured caucus and is now doing what he needs to do to fight another day.

I will say grundingly:doubt:, as much as I think shes a whack job extraordinare, Pelosi is better at this then he is....she never would have allowed the public back biting that went on amongst the gop house.

After republicans’ latest unmitigated disaster, there may very well be a new speaker: Pelosi.

this wasn't nearly the disaster the media and their avid sycophants make it out to be, or hoped for or drove, the gop took a hit, no doubt, but if you think as of now this has really changed the dynamic as it stands right now, for next year? No, it hasn't.

Boehner did not give in.

The TeaPs could not put together a deal the rest of the GOP could support anymore.

The TeaPs failed.

Yeah,

Lets collapse our dollar and the world economy. It isn't like you people give a damn....

What makes me most angry is the fact that you're not going after the cause of the DEBT...Welfare, bail-outs by the fed and wars.

During the 1950s and 1960's our country spent far more on infrastructure, manufacturing, science, tech and education. We became a super power because of it. I am not saying that the republicans are totally wrong about the debt but they're fighting against the health of this nation and the wrong things. Sequester is the most anti-American piece of shit imaginable.

The far right wants you to believe it's all about welfare queens but at $395 a month, that's hardly a haul. However, check out the massive waste on defense and the military:

WASHINGTON – Parked around the airstrip at Lackland Air Force Base are more than a dozen massive C-5A Galaxy transport planes. There is no money to fly them, repair them or put pilots in the cockpits, but Congress rejected the Air Force's bid to retire them.

How much do you think THAT costs us?

More name calling huh? Well the real fascists is not the tea party it is the racists DemoKKKrats. All Democrats are racist.

Didn't use the words "fascist" or "racist" now, did I?

No instead you tried to say they are like the Taliban... Thats demoKKKrats not the tea party.

Hmmm....no, I'm pretty sure I didn't do that, either. Pretty sure I just said they're assholes. But that's ok, project all you wish to make yourself feel better.

:D

All of that for nothing. You could have put up a clean CR two weeks ago and avoided all of this. Oh well, I'm sure we'll hear from you and the Crazy Causus again in December.

John Boehner: 'We Just Didn't Win'

House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) said Wednesday that he would not block a bipartisan Senate compromise to reopen the government, paving the way for an end to the two-week government shutdown.

"The House has fought with everything it has to convince the president of the United States to engage in bipartisan negotiations aimed at addressing our country's debt and providing fairness for the American people under Obamacare. That fight will continue," he said in a statement. "But blocking the bipartisan agreement reached today by the members of the Senate will not be a tactic for us. In addition to the risk of default, doing so would open the door for the Democratic majority in Washington to raise taxes again on the American people and undo the spending caps in the 2011 Budget Control Act without replacing them with better spending cuts."

"We fought the good fight, we just didn't win," he told WLW-AM in Cincinnati.

Not for nothing. The voters will remember who tried to represent them, in 2014. The reminders will be constant and on video tape, for those "independents" who have jobs and miss much of political realities.....:eusa_whistle:
I suspect the republicans will be remembered for what they did but it will be for a different reason. They will be remembered for putting a gun to America's head and for trying to force the will of the minority on the majority. They will be remembered for putting hundreds of thousands of people out of work and for forcing important government agencies to cut needed services. They will be remembered for shutting down the WIC program which helps poor woman and children. And finally, the people will remember the gop for being willing to destroy the financial rating of the US by violating the Constitution and failing to pay our bills. Yes, I am pretty sure the gop will be remembered in 2014.

We shouldn' cut jobs just like we shouldn't be laying off people during this shut down.

We should invest more into infrastructure, science, tech and manufacturing. Not only is it important to have a strong military but it is a means of high paying jobs...

No - he had the winning hand since he was fighting for less debt. That's what he should have emphasized but he never did. He's an idiot.

Sorry, but you really stepped in that one. Perhaps you should go back and get your GED.

Boehner didn't "give in" though. He merely co-operated.

It's something they're suppose to do in their jobs, which is to build co-operation and consensus with everybody, even from other parties.

But Republicans now think "co-operation" means "giving in" and "weakness".

They got their own sequestration numbers re-approved again and didn't have to give anything on tax increases again but they still think they got nothing and lost.

I wonder what'll happen to Boehner now.

the good news now is that the GOP can sit back and watch obozocare collapse and obozo and the poodle press can no longer blame it on the shutdown.

Boehner Will not win reelection.

His speakership or his House seat?

You had to actually ask this? OMG your stupid.

OMG, you're bitter.

And not too bright yourself, if this is true:

At the last GOP conference meeting of the two-week government shutdown, no lawmakers went to the microphones to give their take.

Instead, after Speaker John Boehner told Republicans they had “fought the good fight,” they all rose up to offer a standing ovation. “It was one of the easiest meetings we’ve ever had,” says Representative Mick Mulvaney of South Carolina.

“I think he has strengthened his position in leadership,” Representative John Fleming says about Boehner. “He hung in there with us. He’s been reluctant to go to these fights and now that we have stood up and fought for our values and he’s been there with us, leading, I think his stock has risen tremendously. He has great security as our leader and our speaker.”

ETA: So if you mean his Speakership, looks like you're wrong and if you mean his House district, you're also likely wrong because it's about as safe as Nancy Pelosi's.

that happens to be your view, ( and he did get the verification process turned back on, a backed handed point since it appears not very many folks are getting that far).....

it was preordained, of course he gave in....hello:eusa_eh:
