The reality is that our press has gone through wild fluctuations in the last 40 years. Watergate turned the press from a lapdog to a watchdog. The events of 9/11 reverted the mainstream media back into a lapdog in the name of national security as posed by Bush and Cheney. The press has been suppressed for the last 16 years, both under Bush and Obama.
