They are non partisan offices. You don't have to be affiliated with a party to vote for them. On our ballots in CA, their affiliation is not known without researching it.

I live in Oakland, CA. Before every election, I receive mailers from the Democrat party with their recommendations for all of the elected postions, including School Board ones. I seriously doubt that Oakland is unique in this aspect.
