Carbon Dioxide Levels Topped 400 PPM Throughout Northern Hemisphere In April, WMO Says

GENEVA, May 26 (Reuters) - Carbon dioxide levels throughout the northern hemisphere hit 400 parts per million (ppm) for the first time in human history in April, an ominous threshold for climate change, the World Meteorological Organization said on Monday.

The 400 ppm level in the atmosphere, up 40 percent since wide use of fossil fuels began with the Industrial Revolution, is rapidly spreading southwards. First recorded in 2012 in the Arctic, it has since become the norm for the Arctic spring.

The WMO expects the global annual average carbon dioxide concentration to be above 400 ppm in 2015 or 2016. Rising concentrations of the heat-trapping gas raise risks of more heatwaves, droughts and rising sea levels.

So the theory is that raising CO2 from 380 to 410PPM causes "heatwaves, droughts and rising sea levels"?

Granny says, "Dat's right...

... it's the end times...

... purt soon dey ain't gonna be no air to breathe...

... den we all gonna die."

If it is global warming why do readings just in the northern hemisphere matter? Do the readings in the southern hemisphere say 100ppm so the globe still has 150ppm to churn out before we all die because Oprah's Malibu mansion gets so much water in the basement that Obama can't do fundraisers there? Please do tell.....

Your parents should be ashamed of themselves for their piss-poor home schooling skills...

"The level of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere is seasonal, since plants absorb more in the summer months, causing a peak in the spring. The northern hemisphere, with more human-related sources of the gas, has a more pronounced seasonal cycle."

"In general, levels of CO2 are higher in the northern hemisphere that in the southern hemisphere. And CO2 concentrations on the southern hemisphere tend to lag behind. NOAA predicts that the global average will reach 400ppm in 2016. Eventually, some time around 2020, the 400ppm level will be reached in the Antarctic; and then the whole world will record levels at or above 400ppm.

Here is the text of the press release issued by the WMO."

Our top story tonight, the number of lab experiments showing a temperature increase from raising CO2 from 280 to 400PPM is still ZERO!

Your parents should be ashamed of their child's total lack of a sense humor, but I doubt it was really how they raise them so much as it is their children's sourpuss dispositions.

It's interesting to forecast what will happen as nature attempts to mitigate the CO2. Presumably, aquatic plant and algae blooms will increase since green areas are shrinking on land due to development.

What will the effects of increased aquatic plants and algae be? Algae blooms kill fish and make water more opaque, causing more sunlight to be absorbed closer to the surface. If surface water temperatures are higher and more insulated from cooler water temperatures at lower depths, there will presumably be more evaporation.

Where does that evaporated water go to precipitate? Presumably wherever arctic wind currents send enough cool air to cause condensation. Will the atmosphere warming allow it to hold a greater amount of humidity overall? If so, can we expect more violent storms and fronts as larger amounts of moisture are squeezed out of air during condensation/precipitation events?

Does anyone care as long as they can sit inside an air conditioned building using electronic media or drive/ride around in an air-conditioned vehicle? Probably not until the building or vehicle blows away in a storm. Then they'll be clicking their heels together wishing to go back to the time before cars and air-conditioning started filling the atmosphere with excess heat, CO2, and water-vapor.

...or not, as predicted by our AGW Models

My models predict that no matter what data may show, the AGW Faith-based cultists will insist that we are all fucking doomed.
