I am inclined to wonder what factors might be at work re: Nicaragua. I think - Marge is not arguing against you here Sherri. Not totally. Her post, which you quoted from - talked about culture, including religion as part of that culture as being partly causative. You can't always seperate culture from religion.

Why would you say they aren't "fundamentalist"? They strike me as just that...most fundamentalist interpretations are very anti-woman.
