You 33% crapola is just that, crapola. Conservatives have used their toehold on power to block anything constructive going on in government. Add to that, they actively called for this president, a black man, and the first one elected as President of the United States, to fail. This has been the least productive and perhaps the most dangerous congress in history and have targeted anything that helps black folks.

And lets stroll down memory lane. Those southern democrats were whistling Dixie, war of northern aggression, state's rights, star and bars waving Dixiecrats. Democrats now adays don't talk about that nonsense, that would be today's Republicans. And you have folks like Rand Paul waxing philosophically about how government should not impose regulations forcing private businesses to serve blacks, completely forgetting that the civil rights movement began at Woolworth lunch counters and on National City Line buses.

Fast forward to today where you folks are still waving the confederate flag, denigrating national black leaders like Al Sharpton, defending racist celebrities like Paula Deen and Phil Robertson and talking about cutting benefits on folks who's ancestors came here in shackles and chains while lying in their own filth.

You can forget the black vote for a long long time.

This is abundantly clear to any of us southerners who are old enough to remember how all the Dixiecrats abandoned their party to love up on Jerry Falwell and Ronald Reagan. Today I look at the garbage my relatives post on facebook regarding Jesus, guns and scary black people and wonder to myself how the hell I became a liberal coming from such ignorance.

I never ever knew anyone who was a republican growing up, the consensus was that the republicans were a bunch of yankee carpetbagging dickheads who still wanted to punish the south for the civil war. Some of them jumped ship after Johnson and rest followed during the Carter administration when it became clear that he was not a racist scumbag like them. I lived this history, firsthand, I need no blog post to educate me who all the 60s segregationists voted for in the 80s. Give it up, the republicans welcomed the racist/hardcore christian element of the south with open arms and are still paying the price for letting them guide the social platform.

Name them other then Strom thurman because he is a given.

Let's take a step back. I think it's true that some Republicans and Democrats tend to vote only on a party ticket; however, my observation (much to my horror) is that Democrats tend to vote that way moreso than Republicans: "My great-grandpa, my grandpa and grandma, my mama and my daddy all voted Democrat and I'm going to vote that way, too."

One, the Democratic Party of today is NOT the same party that it was years ago. I think the "socialist, communist" group is very much smaller than we are lead to believe, but hitched their star to the Democratic Party because that was the party which was closer in ideology than the Republican Party. So, as long as people vote the Democratic ticket regardless of their personal disagreement with the platform .......

Two, there are thousands of people who have NEVER exercised their right to vote in any election - either because they don't care OR because they don't see the use: "my vote doesn't count," "it doesn't make any difference, they're going to do what they want to do."

And then there's the issue of education - or the lack thereof. My mind keeps going back to Brown v. Board of Education. Someone's daddy felt his children deserved a better education than what they were getting in their segregated school ... and he was right. Blacks DID and DO deserve a better education. And what happened? The Blacks could not keep up with (or catch up with) the whites once the schools were integrated and so the powers that be started dumbing down education for ALL students, regardless of race. And that trend has continued all these decades later. The situation was not handled right from the get-go. Period. So was it one father's desire for his children? OR, is it possible that it was a great strategy on the part of the socialist/communist community to disenfranchise ALL students for purposes to occur in the future? Now we have stupid all over the place and the education system is STILL being frucked with and any attempts to change that via home schooling, school choice, or whatever method is meeting with stiff opposition. Is it any wonder that American school children are dropping behind the rest of the world?
