The truth is that the FBI notified Facebook that reports about Hunter Biden’s laptop were part of a Russian misinformation campaign.

It was perfectly appropriate and warranted that the FBI make such a notification.

Zuckerberg, on his own accord, not ‘forced’ by the FBI, took the necessary action to check the Russian misinformation campaign on the platform.

That the FBI is ‘covering up’ the Hunter Biden laptop non-issue is a lie.

And even then, a ‘stand-alone’ law-enforcement entity is the stuff of military dictatorships.

Well no, There are different ways to do it. You could have a direct election every 4 or 8 years for the Attorney General--just like we have now. One term only. Congressional oversight so the power of the purse is still there. But what you could remove is the ability for the President to order the AG to do anything like we saw with Nixon.

This would also have to be coupled with the removal of the Presidential pardon....still have pardons but get rid of the President being able to dangle a pardon as a reward for doing his bidding.

All law-enforcement entities must be answerable to a civilian authority elected by the people reflecting the will of the people.

That would not change.

The problem is that Republican administrations are infamous for politicizing the Justice Department, making it a partisan weapon of the GOP – as we saw with GWB and Trump.

Well that is the major problem so far. Democrats are just as corruptable (if that is the word) as Republicans.

The best solution is to stop electing Republicans president.

That is treating the symptom; not the disease. The DOJ should be an independent actor with the unfettered access to investigate whomever is accused of wrong doing without influence--stated or not--from someone above them.
