Zone1 Do most Jews believe they killed Jesus?

I was a kid in the 60s. We were taught Jesus was crucified by the Romans. It was noted that some Temple authorities who collaborated with Roman authorities were definitely at odds with Jesus, but others (Nicodemus, Joseph of Arimathea, etc.) were friends of Jesus. Multitudes of Jews came out to listen to him and there were also an incredible number who followed him closely.

I never heard that 70s parents took a u-turn from what Catholic children were being taught in the 60s.
Pope John XXIII did it----sometime in the 60s---
BIG CHANGE........and no more fish sticks on Friday

I heard Mel Gibson's movie set back Jewish/Christian relations too. 2004
Mel Gibson missed the fish sticks? Mel Gibson's
CHEERING SQUAD SCENCE ---turned me off to HIM forever. DA JEWISH CHEERING SQUAD AT
"GOLGATHA" ----la la la la SHISH BOOM BAH---
CRUCIFY HIM, CRUCIFY HIM la la la la ---somehow seemed, sorta, almost, kinda
QUITE A STRETCH OF a sick IMAGINATION

Friday was--and still is recommended as a fast day, meaning simply eating less. To begin with, abstaining from meat began as a tradition not as a rule. Since Catholics, as a rule, were not eating meat on Fridays, vendors and restaurants began Friday fish fries and including fish with simple Friday meals.

Even when meatless Fridays became more the rule of the day, there were days the rule was relaxed (probably started in times of the smaller 'icebox' before electric refrigerators became the norm) and Catholics were told it was fine to eat their leftover meat when a holiday fell on a Thursday or Friday. Thanksgiving is an example of eating meat on the Friday following; also when St. Patrick's Day fell on one of those two days and there was left-over corned beef.

gee---it's almost talmudic

That's not what Christians taught their kids in the 1970's.

There's two ways of looking at it. They way you put it and the way they put it. Where Cesar gave the Jews a chance to save Jesus and they picked Barabus.
That’s because Barabus didn’t heal anyone on on the sabbath or claim to be an agent of God. Looks like it doesn’t take much for Christians to buy into this stuff. Born agains, love Trump. He claimed to be the second coming .

At the time-----the only reason a person got crucified was for SEDITION AGAINST ROME.
If a jew murdered a jew----that would not be an
issue for the Romans---nor would a jew robbing
another jew. You got the name of the roman
that Barabas "murdered" As to "murder"---the
jellybean story line is that THE JEWS MURDERED
JESUS BY FORCING THE ROMANS TO CRUCIFY JESUS-------that story is even sillier. What crime
did Jesus commit against Rome (this is a quiz--there is an answer)
Healing on the sabbath and claiming to be an agent of god.

As related in the Gospels, neither would have gotten Jesus a death sentence in Jewish courts.
Yah, but the hold on a religion is strong and the Jewish elders could lose their power. When you actually start healing people that would scare the begeesus out of the hierarchy.

I'm not sure how you think elders would "lose power" but it certainly wouldn't be related to a decision not to kill someone.

Really ? Look at all the shit you could get stoned for, their capital punishment at the time. Menial shit by todays standards. It’s the Romans who perfected crucifying.

You know nothing about it-----

Of course it would, nothing motivates killing more than loss of power…..
The people of that time were literate and wrote extensively about WHAT WAS WHAT.
Hilarious. The literacy rate was just 10%. We’ll assume it was mostly among among the religious/political leaders with power , who specialized in writing BIBLES. That’s why the Bible is fictitious and used to control people. Those who were literate controlled the power. Yo7 dolts really think the common man had power ? It was Christ

wrong again ----since about 400 AD --male literacy approached 100%----well ---probably not quite but almost. Even Jesus---that poor baby---born in a stable----could read and write
