No, you don’t get it. Businesses are forced to buy products or move manufacturing overseas in order to stay in business, thanks to “free trade” and no tariffs. Politicians have failed for decades to protect businesses that keep their jobs in the US. Businesses can’t nor should they move back to the US until it makes economic sense to do so.

Tariffs made this country great for the majority of its history. They’ve been used to protect our businesses and jobs. They work great in that regard. That’s why we used them, that’s why the EU and China uses them today. The only reason the US abandoned tariffs was because after WWII all our competition was literally wiped out. Since then Japan and Europe have rebuilt and become economic powerhouses, yet America remains stuck in the 1950’s when it comes to trade protections.

President Trump knows it’s time to fix that and bring jobs back to the US. That can only be done by laws, trade agreements and tariffs. Not by just telling certain businesses they should stop outsourcing overseas.
