Florida's Don't Feel Bad Law.

Right here from the bill.... An individual should not be made to feel discomfort, guilt, anguish, or any other form of psychological distress on account of his or her race,”

If a teacher teaches something that makes them feel bad, then the law is violated. If hearing about slavery makes some kid feel bad, the law is violated

Not when the law clearly states they are authorized to do so.

An individual, by virtue of his or her race or sex, does not bear responsibility for actions committed in the past by other members of the same race or sex. An individual should not be made to feel discomfort, guilt, anguish, or any other form of psychological distress on account of his or her race,” the bill states.
There is NOTHING wrong with that language.

I'd have to look at the actual bill because the OP seems quite biased. Not many laws are written with such ambiguity as it would be impossible to enforce because of opinion. The fact of the matter is nobody is in control of how another person feels over history.

Exactly my point actually. If a teacher is just presenting history in an unbiased "This is what happened" way then no problem. It's when the teacher pontificates about who's to blame and etc where things go south. Kids can make their own conclusions. Yes, even in elem. school

Really? So what about the white students who's family was still in Europe at the time of US slavery? They should feel guilty too based on the pigmentation of their skin?

The OP doesn't state that it will be illegal to teach US history, only that comments how terrible white people are (were) should be left out of the teachings.
Republicans’ efforts to silence teachers and conceal the truth and facts concerning slavery is intended to support the right’s false narrative that racism and bigotry are things of the past.

In order for the right’s war on Americans of color and other minority Americans to proceed, conservatives must push the lie that racism is something ‘made-up,’ the lie that black Americans aren’t subject to disadvantage and discrimination, and the lie that Americans of color use racism as a ‘political weapon’ against Republicans and conservatives.

And to that end, to be in compliance with the law, teachers are prohibited to teach facts and the truth about slavery.

The truth that for some white Southerners, their relatives engaged in rape and murder against enslaved Americans.

The truth that for some white Southerners, their relatives sold enslaved Americans like chattel, ripped apart the families of enslaved Americans, and misappropriated the children of enslaved Americans.

The truth that for some white Southerners, their relatives engaged in the lynching of enslaved Americans, burned down the homes of enslaved Americans, starved and lashed enslaved Americans.

This law has nothing to do with avoiding white students from felling ‘discomfort, guilt, or anguish’ concerning the crimes against humanity their relatives committed, but to cover-up facts and the truth about America’s past conservatives find politically inconvenient and problematic.

Then show me where in the bill it states that. I provided the Senate link where it plainly says that the law would allow discussions on all discriminations but not allowed to make people of today feel guilty about it. In other words personal opinions.

made to feel discomfort, guilt, anguish, or any other form of psychological distress

is a very vague standard. Just hearing about something could make someone feel discomfort
It's pretty clear that it has to be proved to be calculated to cause said discomfort based on race. It's an objective test rather than a subjective test.

Nothing wrong with that at all. If we can tell by the language of the teacher that it is intended to make a certain race feel uncomfortable, it's illegal.

An individual should not be made to feel discomfort, guilt, anguish, or any other form of psychological distress on account of his or her race,

The bill authorizes discussion and curricula, in an age-appropriate manner, regarding topics such as sexism, slavery, racial oppression, racial segregation, and racial discrimination.

So, not little Jonnie is taught that slavery was a real thing, he goes home and tells mommy and daddy and BOOM school is now sued for teaching about slavery, and will not be allowed to do so any longer.

Little Suzi learns about what we did to native Americans as we expanded westward, she goes home and tells mommy and daddy and BOOM school is now sued for teaching about what we did and will not be allowed to do so any more.
It sucks to be on the receiving end of your own medicine, doesn't it? :p
