How many years will it take the conservative movement to recover from the damage done by Trump?

I think his long term impact is being greatly overestimated.

His impact, if he loses, will be in a progressive supreme court for the next 30 years, and the power centralizing, freedom removing wave that will result.

None, Trump didn't do the damage the backstabbing GOP establishment did the damage. They ran over 60,000 ads advocating conservative positions on the issues then after the election took a giant shit on conservatives, openly mocking them, bragging that they could win the White House without the conservative base. Trump is a product of the GOP establishment.
They controlled one of three houses. What did you expect? By the time they got the Senate the damage was done. How many times did they TRY to repeal Obamacare? How were they supposed to over ride the Senate or a veto?

None of which explains why the GOP leadership openly attacked and mocked conservatives. You have no right to blame Trump, its not Trump's fault none of the GOP establishment candidates could get more than 5% of the vote. I'm not happy with Trump but its the GOP leadership who are responsible for this fiasco.

The majority of the country and a solid almost majority of the GOP has recoiled in horror from Trump.

No Trump like candidate will be allowed by the revision of the RNC rules.

You Alt Right freeks, go start your own party.

You righties can't hate everything....including yourselves.

At some point you have to start facing facts.

The "so called Conservative" platforms of the Tea Party, and Alt Right...are a huge turn off for anyone who isn't an uneducated white male over 50, who attends Church once a week.

The problem with Sarah Palin, Mitt Romney, and Donald Trump, is that the average voter DOES understand their agandas

Tea Party kicked the living shit out of the Democrats, historic losses so epic you have to go all the way back to 1921 to find a Democratic party beating that bad, losing both the House and the Senate with a black president in the White House...and your argument is that the Tea Party positions on the issues are a huge turn off  we have huge blow out elections that prove you are wrong. :eusa_boohoo:
Yup, and 2016 is going to make 2012 look like nothing in comparison as the GOP gets hammered because of Trump, including the down ballot.

Oh, by the by, the summer congressional town halls next year are being set up with public and private security.

Any screaming or other disruptions, and you go out in hand cuffs.

If the alt right propaganda machine that people are saying Trump, Bannon, Ailes, etc. develops into a major media force - which many are saying is the plan -

they will develop a following of far right anti-establishment voters that they will be able to nominate another unelectable extremist 4 years from now, and 4 years from then.

I think the Republican base will "normalize" faster than people think. Republicans voters have shown that they are quick to turn on those they once supported. Bush, McCain, Romney, Ryan... They'll be calling Trump a RINO by January.
Trump is a RINO lol. We, not me, let an outsider into the henhouse and he is wrecking the place.
It reminds me of the blacks who riot & loot in their own neighborhoods when they're angry about something.
The hen house was full of capitulating liberals posing as Republicans and/or conservatives. The only conservatives are citizens. Thanks to the Bushes and other "go along to get along" squishy ass weaklings, the Republican Party has nothing to offer anymore. It doesn't matter if we elect a conservative, we just need to elect somebody who will push these spineless pussies out of the party.

If (if?) Trump loses, the number one excuse now will be that the mainstream Republicans sold Trump out.

Kind of - LOL - the way the Nazis claimed the Jews sold out Germany in WWI.

lol, right on cue to confirm post 47.

What we are seeing is the final outing and destruction of a sick side conservatism going back to the 1960s and further.

The sick conservatives were forced out of the Dem Party in the South. It is now trying to take over the GOP, has been outed, and is failing.

The great majority of Americans today do not want a pre-1964 racial or cultural America.

For sure the GOP is not conservative, except for a few good guys here or there, they're pretty much racketeers like the Dems

Like it or not, the GOP is ...The Party of Trump

Young voters, women, Hispanics, minorities when looking at future candidates will always have the image and policies of Trump as a way to define the Party. It may take a generation to repair the damage

Todays voters look at the GOP as the Party of Reagan
Now it has become the Party of Trump

That's a load of drama.

The Tea Party has very few Senate seats and not very many House seats. It was just a mid term that lefties overlooked. That's all. The "so called Conservative" media made you think it was historic.

These things go back and forth all the time. Only Rush Limbaugh has been trying to convince people Liberalism is dead.

The man is a walking time bomb going off in slow motion. The damage being done in this age of social media is significant
You are confused about a few things. Conservativism isn't a movement, it's an ideology. It's a look before you leap philosophy. Contrary to the liberal leap before you look. Mother government will catch you if you fall.

The "damage" is a rift between the establishment Democrat lite Republicans and conservatives. That's why the TEA party popped up. Long before Trump was an issue. The party bosses expect that we fall in line and support their pick so lots of noise is made on capital hill but not much gets done beyond going down the same path.
