Several years back I heard my address being called out on the police scanner. By the time I got my shoes on and went outside, I had five squad cars around my house. There was a guy in my driveway I never seen before. Apparently he was there to pick up his kids that my tenant (their uncle) was baby sitting. He refused to give the father his daughters because he was stone drunk, so the drunk refused to move his car.

The cops asked if he could park his car in my parking lot. I was not happy about it and asked the cop why this guy isn't going to jail for DUI? The officer replied because they have no evidence he was driving drunk; it would never hold up in court. Public intoxication was out of the picture too since when they came, he was on private property--mine. He was not trespassing because he came there to pickup his children.

There was only one way he could have got to my house, and that was by driving there drunk as a skunk. But in our justice system, we protect the guilty even if we have 99% proof they were guilty of something.

I'm sure you think that is relevant somehow. If you think votes from big cities should count less than any other vote in the country, you should work to have the constitution changed.

Well, each state only gets two Senators to represent them. On your line of thinking, Rhode Island should only have one Senator and Texas should have twelve.

You seem to be confused. Each state does have 2 Senators, but that has nothing to do with vote totals. 100 votes for a particular office are still 100 votes. the number of Senators per state had no effect on Trump's vote count.

The point I'm making is that our founders didn't want mob rule, they didn't want total democracy. When they created the Congress, they made it so people had representatives in the house that equaled their population, but not in the Senate where you get two Senators whether you had 5,000 people in your state or 50,000. That gave everybody equity in our government.

In other words, the city of New York has over 7 million people. Just in that one city alone, they have more people than the six lowest populated states in the country. Now, do you think it would be fair that one city has more power than six states when it comes to the presidency?

The EC gives us a similar equity that we have in our Congress. We don't allow mob rule for obvious reasons. That's why our founders created it.

As for popular vote, it doesn't mean crap because we don't know what the popular vote would actually be like unless we had elections using the popular vote. Candidates would campaign differently; they would spend most of their time and money in the most populated states. More people would likely vote since their vote would not be a waste of time. For instance, it's a waste of time for a Republican to vote in the state of California because your vote doesn't count for anything using the EC. It would count if we were using the popular vote.

With Steve Scalise still needing canes to walk after surviving an attempted mass assassination of GOP congressmen; Maxine Waters loudly urging Democrats to harass Republicans whenever they venture out, even to "gasoline stations"; paid demonstrators pounding on the doors of the Supreme Court while the newest justice was sworn in; and the rank and file urging the murder of Justice Kavanaugh, the Republic now faces a crisis of political violence.
So far, nobody of standing in the Democratic Party is calling out the thugs operating as the Dems' enforcers.
I suspect that the political calculus among Republicans has been to let Waters shoot off her mouth and alienate more and more independent voters. But the risk of violence is such that this may be foolish. It is now time for President Trump to start calling them out, reinforced by as many voices as possible, telling the public that if they don't condemn it, they approve of the violence and harassment.
